Members happy-man Posted August 22, 2007 Members Posted August 22, 2007 I've searched and read the previous threads on capos. I was planning on trying either a Shubb or a Planet Waves NS. I've been using Kysers. I find there are two versions of Shubb, C1 for 6 string, and C3 for 12 string. I would preferably like a capo that would work equally well on either guitar. Can't tell any difference from the pictures. http://www.zzounds.com/item--SHBSSN http://www.zzounds.com/item--SHB12SN The Planet Waves NS says it works with 6 or 12 string, so my inclination is to try that one. Does anyone have experience with the C3?. If it's adjustable, I can't understand why it wouldn't be just as good as a C1 on a 6 string. I've never tried a Shubb or a Planet Waves. I can't tell any difference between my "6 string" Kyser and my "12 string Kyser". Tesion seems the same, pad size seems the same. But I do have the common issue of pulling the low E string sharp, and want to try something different. I've got one of those Glider Rolling Capos if anyone wants to buy it or trade. I'll mail it to you, and you can mail me back a Shubb or PW Scott O
Members rjoxyz Posted August 22, 2007 Members Posted August 22, 2007 I have a couple NS capos and really like them. Have a Shubb too, but prefer the Planet Waves. Have always used a Kyser on my 12 string. After reading your post, I tried the NS on it and sure 'nuff, it works. Hadn't even thought of using it on the 12, but will now. The NS allows you to dial in just the necessary amount of pressure and will only pull a string out of tune if you overcrank it big time. Not a bad $15 gamble.
Members Freeman Keller Posted August 22, 2007 Members Posted August 22, 2007 I don't capo my 12 very often, but when I do I have a Shubb (I think the 12 string version is a tad wider). I've also got one of those old strap on things from the 60's - the 12 string version has two straps. Seems like every time you capo a 12 it takes forever to get it retuned, and the intonation goes to hell anyway, so I just leave it down in the basement.
Members brahmz118 Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 The Planet Waves NS is an extraordinary capo. I have a Shubb 12-string capo and it never worked properly either of my 12-strings -- it didn't hold down all the octave strings without buzzing or muting. The Planet Waves NS works on everything I own. I think there's a difference in the rubber. The Shubb I have is too smooth, and it doesn't bend around the strings on my 12-string guitars. If I could go do it over again I'd probably use the Planet Waves NS capos exclusively.
Members AK47 Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 I have the Planet Waves NS capo and use it on 6 and 12 string. This capo works easily and outstanding on both.
