Members guitarist21 Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 ... and no mention of Yamaha! Or Walden! I was a little disappointed. I would have taken out the Applause and the Silvertone (or maybe the Fender) and replaced them with a Yamaha and a Walden. Ellen

Members Stackabones Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 Maybe Yamaha and Walden don't have ads in this month's GP. Or maybe they don't have enough ads.

Members EvilTwin Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 No Art & Lutherie solid-top models? Durango B-46? Washburn D-10S?
Members DeepEnd Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 BTW the guitars mentioned for those of you who don't get GP: . . .. . . Greg Bennett Guitars OM 5 CE (They're like Samick) . . . Strictly speaking, the are Samick. The designation indicates that they're designed by Greg Bennett. See http://www.guitareast.com/.
Members DonK Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 I've never played a Walden, but I can't imagine there are 10 acoustic electrics under $300 that trump Yamaha's offerings. I think Stackabones has it right.
Members Kap'n Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Didn't really read the article, but it's apparent that at least two of the differently branded instruments were made in the same factory, judging by the appearance of the control panel.

That may not be a good indicator of manufacturer. There's zillions of small Asian guitar factories, but probably less than two dozen that make the electronics packages. You'll find virtually identical electronics in quite different guitars. Many come from Cort's electronics division, Cor-Tek, which can be found in a variety of brands manufactured by Cort, but also in others with no connection to Cort.
