Members futbol1097 Posted August 30, 2007 Members Posted August 30, 2007 I was wondering if anyone has opinions on Guild acoustic/electric guitars? I know someone selling their '99 Guild DCE5 for a reasonable price. How do these compare to the Taylor 314CE and 414Ce models (two Used for sale near me as well)? I would like to find something with a big sound and strong mids and lows since I play some bluegrass and flatpick as well as standard rock stuff. I've heard that the Taylors don't project well unless they are plugged in due to the smaller body. Thanks,R
Members TeleFromHelly Posted August 31, 2007 Members Posted August 31, 2007 Taylors are pretty quiet if you fingerpick not plugged in but they get a pretty decent volume with a pick. It's loud enough for recording but if you wanted to play outside or something to a crowd you would need a pa
Members EvilTwin Posted August 31, 2007 Members Posted August 31, 2007 I'd probably end up choosing almost any Guild instead of a Taylor, but that's just me. If you're a bluegrasser who wants stronger lows, though, I don't think a Taylor will be your cup of tea. They fill a different sort of niche. But OTOH, you'd certainly stand out tonally in a bluegrass jam if you were playing a Taylor.
