Members Hudman Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Some of you may notice me missing lately (or maybe not - ). Man oh man, I've been busy lately. I am lucky if I can check in here once a day for 10 or 15 minutes. We kicked off contract negotiations a few weeks ago at work. It's actually going well. Our new soccer season started up two weeks ago. We have practice in 15 minutes..... I am afternoon "baby relief" for my wife when I am home. Me and the little guy are doing a lot of bonding. We spend a lot of quality time in my lazy boy chair passed out in front of the baseball game. The bad news is I don't get to play as much guitar as I usually do and I don't get to hang out with you guys as much. We took the baby on his first camp out last weekend at my buddy's lake house in the Irish Hills. We had 8 families in 5 RV's and tents. It was a lot of fun. My friend and I spent a couple hours strumming around the camp fire (now I am on topic). I am learning to type with the baby sitting on my lap, so maybe you guys will see me a bit more often.
Members riffmeister Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Welcome back! Sounds like you've been bizzzzzzzzzeeee! And sounds like you could use a reason to pick up a guitar a bit more often...he he....
Members kwakatak Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Welcome back. I know how you feel - I'm typing one-handed at this moment while giving the little one a bottle and giving the big one a time out.
Members d03nut Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 I was wondering.... Ok, below's a list of all my threads in the last couple of weeks. Absolutely "must-read" material if you ask me....and nobody else, of course...... da'man
Members recordingtrack1 Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Hey Hud, You got your priorities straight and that is good. Post when you can and don't worry about it. You've got a great family! RT1:thu:
Members Tony Burns Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 We were worried - glad your back , if we see a few misspelled words- we know your baby helped you on the key board ! ( I dont need a baby to misspell word - mine is a natural talent )
Members Hudman Posted August 27, 2007 Author Members Posted August 27, 2007 As always, I appreciate your kind words. I've been reading the d03nut posts. Classic stuff. I liked the "hands" thread. Unfortunately, I haven't had anything witty or worthy to respond. D03nut deserves high quality, profound responses. True story: I played my Yamaha for 3 or 4 hours during our camp-out and threw it in the gigbag. It went through temperture range of 48 degrees up to 80 degrees over the camp-out. Not to mention it rained cats and dogs the last day. I hung it on the wall when we got home and didn't touch again for 4 or 5 days. I picked it up yesterday and it was still in tune. Bullet proof.....
Members Cripes Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 Hey Hud. Glad you got a break to check in. The ramparts are manned as usual here. It's good you can run interference on the little guy for your wife. A little bit of time goes a long way when they're that young.
Members babablowfish Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 Good to hear from you Hud. As the man said, you got your priorities straight. We'll be here when you need a break from reality.
Members DonK Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 Hey Hud, You got your priorities straight and that is good. Post when you can and don't worry about it. You've got a great family! RT1:thu: +1 And you get used to typing a with a kid on your lap. What you really have to worry about is when they get older and start hanging over your shoulder every time you're on the computer.
Members Broadus Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 I remember (just barely!) those days. Since our youngest is 23, I now have some time to learn how to play. Enjoy this time, Hud, as you are obviously doing. It's gone all too quickly. Bill
Members kwakatak Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 OK OK OK, you guys are getting mushy. It's almost getting as bad when former coworkers would come into my last job with their new babies! BTW Hud, you need to post some pics so we can all go "awwwww!!!" PS: how's the kid doing? Is there any interest in your guitar playing? We need to school our kids young and start the HCAG Diaper Brigade band. My 3 year old can be the drummer!
Members JasmineTea Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 I still say he was funnier when he was Edman. Then again, the same can be said for Sweb, I mean Cripes...I'm keeping my moniker. Sounds like family life is good, Hud. Keep up the good work...I mean sleep, er, passing out, Lazy Boy bonding and such...I never had kids, obviously. Always good to see you around, Hud. Diaper Brigade?
Members Hudman Posted August 28, 2007 Author Members Posted August 28, 2007 Thanks again guys. The baby was a surprise package. We thought we were done having kids. We have daughter going into 6th grade and a son going into 2nd grade. I forgot how much I missed them being babies. It's cool to kick back with him after a long stessful day. He looks at me with those big blue eyes and my stress melts away. He seems to enjoy hearing my guitar playing and my terrible singing. Thanks for the guitar fellas.
Members d03nut Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 "way" congrats on the new git. I'm happy for ya. as per the previous IKFC "offensive", I wasn't in on it. I would have loved to contribute (each time) but for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with "cheapness" -my two most hated human "traits": cheapness & jealousy- lets say I "couldn't" anyway. obviously no shortage of willing participants though. da'man

Agreed. WTF happened? Moniker? Come to think of it there's quite a bit of the humor of old missing from these halls. Had to deal with some hard hitting recent events that did upset my beer schedule a bit. I didn't forget the Errol Flynn in virtual JT clothing that used to keep this place happily unbalanced.
Members JasmineTea Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 I didn't forget the Errol Flynn in virtual JT clothing that used to keep this place happily unbalanced.LOL! Now I gotta change my avatar. Cripes, I'll tell ya, I've cut back on my Errol Flynn-isms (most wonderful compliment, btw) mainly because...well, my pc died, I ran out of dough, had to move from my apartment, hit the skids for the most part, could'nt find an agreeable j-o-b...Basically I lost most of my Cyber Liberty. Any time I post(ed) it was/is from either a coffee shop or a friends house or the library. Can't verywell crack open a beer or have a smoke at the library. And some of those posts required a bit of domestic freedom in order to come about. You know, like kicking back in my underwear with a git and a beer and thinking about a good reply to a post, etc. All that kind of single-guy-at-home stuff. So I'm still in limbo. Sometimes it's a good thing because I spend less time online. I hav'nt made up my mind what I'm gonna do next, though. So limbo might be it for a while. Thinking of moving. Maybe look for a place in northern Wisconsin. Or maybe just move to Milwaukee and check out the music scene. Either way I'm quasi-inbetween jobs and not sure what I'm going to do next. I've got a job if I want it, but I'm not sure I want it.
Members guitarist21 Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Or maybe just move to Milwaukee and check out the music scene. I have some friends who live around there and sometimes let me crash at their house if my friends and I drive up for a Brewers-Cubs game. I've been to a handful of concerts and seen a couple of the local bands and I must say that IMO, the music scene in Milwaukee is wayyyy better than anyone ever makes it out to be. I bet it wasn't very good like ten, twenty years ago but what I've seen has not been bad at all. Only downside would have to be that I haven't seen a lot of jazz clubs, but if you're not into jazz so much, you'll be okay. Ellen

Members DeepEnd Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Back when our daughter was little I worked nights (for that matter, I'm working nights now) so I got to do the late night bottle. We'd sit on the couch in front of the TV with a bottle for her and milk and cookies for me. Frankly, I miss those times. She'll be 15 in September and thinks I'm the lamest thing that ever walked. Enjoy.
Members larry50 Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Welcome back! Ahh .. the good old days. All I can say is, thank god the kids are back in school. My daughter is a tween with extreme angst about the 7th grade, so the last two weeks have been tough.
Members T.B. Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Welcome back Hud. Well our daughter left for college last week. It's a little weird coming home and not having our phone ring off the hook and a parade of teenager's swing through our door, but I guess we'll get use it. Trina

Members JasmineTea Posted August 31, 2007 Members Posted August 31, 2007 So, tell me what really happened. You okay? That's the nutshell version. The detailed version is'nt as pleasant, and would'nt be appropriate for an internet forum. Go ahaed and fill in the blanks, if you like.
Members JasmineTea Posted August 31, 2007 Members Posted August 31, 2007 You must be one tough guy to go through all that but I'm sure whatever you do next it's going to be cool. Shux, that's just what happened last year. There's 42 other years. Edit: No, I'm not a tough guy. More like starving artist.
