Members bobbyscotty Posted September 1, 2007 Members Posted September 1, 2007 I recently purchased this 12 string guitar from a friend. She bought in 1987. The guitar and case are in near perfect condition. It plays well, stays in tune all the way up the neck and has very good action. Is anyone familar with this brand of guitar? I am a long time lurker with this being my first post.

Members Clif Schlicher Posted September 1, 2007 Members Posted September 1, 2007 http://www.guitarsite.com/database/Resources/rec/4834/wwwboard/messages/7.shtml Short run production and a good player.....that may raise the value in the future, especially since you seem to have gotten one of the "Gibson"s. But in the meantime you have a guitar you enjoy, which is really the point, isn't it? Clif

Members Terry Allan Hall Posted September 1, 2007 Members Posted September 1, 2007 An interesting take on the laminated back/sides concept...the Nouveau line used laminated woods that had all three layers going in the same direction, alledgedly (most laminates have the center layer going crosswise to the two outer layers, as I expect you know)... Never really caught on...I've only seen a few, even though they were made about 20 years ago...and not highly valued, compared with other Gibsons from the same years. Write us up a review of it, when you have played it a while!
Members bobbyscotty Posted September 1, 2007 Author Members Posted September 1, 2007 A quick review. I am still learning the workings of the forum and I will post pictures when I figure out how to do it. The guitar sounds good. I am not a real tone junkie, I play blues/rock mostly on an electric. I am most impressed by the playability. The action is very good, as is the intonation. The action is actually lower than my Taylor 110. There is no fret buzz. It works well with a capo. I am using the lightest guage strings I could get at a reasonable price, D'Addario extra light. The reason person I bought the guitar from quit playing it do to her loss of hand strength. She still plays her old 6 string Gibson. I was very willing to give up a little tone to make it easier to play. Decent 12 strings all seem to sound good to me. I added an L.R.Baggs M1 active to the guitar. It sounds good even through my electric guitar amps. I wasn't aware of its laminate construction. It sounds good and she took such good care of it. I bought a guitar, not an investment. She really wanted the guitar have a good home and to be enjoyed. I have given it a good home and enjoy playing it.
