Members Krash Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Will be ordering a Yamaha F335 this week, and was surprised to see it's available with a black gloss finish. Can't recall ever seeing a black acoustic, but it sounds different and I may order it. There's no pic of the black model on the vendor websites, and the F335 is not listed at all on Yamaha's site. Would appreciate if someone could post a pic of any similar guitar in black, so I can get an idea what it looks like. Thx.
Members happy-man Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Hard to imagine someone not having seen a black acoustic. It's a common color. I just got home from an open mic where one guy had a black Tak. Here's an F335 on eBay.Scott O
Members Treborklow Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 There are tons of black acoustics. Even martin has a new black model.
Members DonK Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 You can even get the Epi Hummingbird in black (which makes no sense).
Members happy-man Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Even the Esteban comes in black.
Members DonK Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Even the Esteban comes in black. As befits a man who looks like a cross between Zorro and Jose Feliciano.
Members Rock Martyr Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Yeah, that guy needs a style makeover.
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 There are some drawbacks to black acoustics if you live/perform in places where it gets hot...at an Arizona festival I was performing at, some years ago, the act going on after mine set his black Takamine on a guitar stand on stage, as he waited for his turn, and after about 15-20 minutes, it literally exploded from being in the sun!Something to consider!
Members lauren Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 I agree, black acoustic would suit you. I have a black Kay and I love it. Also saw the one on ebay and am trying hard to stay away.... As befits a man who looks like a cross between Zorro and Jose Feliciano.
Members lauren Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 But they look so pretty. One word: FINGERPRINTS

Must have seen a black acoustic somewhere along the way, but just drew a blank on it. I know it'll be a problem keeping it clean, and it'll show dings and scratches, but I'm pretty careful with my guitars. My hands are pathologically dry, so fingerprints shouldn't be a problem. Probably order it today or tomorrow.Would love to have seen the guy's face when his guitar exploded. Thanks for all the pics/comments.
Members guitarist21 Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Guit30 has a black Alvarez. Ellen
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Would love to have seen the guy's face when his guitar exploded. Pretty sad, really...tears ran down his face as he picked up the pieces and put 'em in the case...he and that guitar had some history together, I suspect. I let him use my J-200 for his set...he sang a lot of sad songs that day...
Members Hudman Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 I had a black Gibson for a few months. I could never get used to a black guitar. I felt like Johnny Cash and the fingerprints drove me nuts. I also wasn't crazy about the tone. It was very compressed. Here's what it looked like:

Your hands could be as dry as the Sahara, you're still gonna mark it, trust me. But hey, that might not be an issue for you, its certainly not a good enough reason to back away from one if you want one. Personally I think that elvis j-45 gibson does looks awesome, I'd buy that in a flash if I had the
Members jedistar Posted August 30, 2007 Members Posted August 30, 2007 If I could afford it I'd get a martin Johnny Cash d35 - until then...

Don't think I'd have any trouble getting used to that baby. And one of the first songs I learrned was "Give my love to Rose", so I don't think the Johnny Cash link would bother me.

And one of the first songs I learrned was "Give my love to Rose", so I don't think the Johnny Cash link would bother me. It was a cool guitar. It was the most expensive acoustic guitar I ever bought. I think I paid $1200 for it. I bought it online from Musicians Friend (it is a MF exclusive model). I had trouble bonding with it (tone wise and look wise).
Members Krash Posted August 30, 2007 Author Members Posted August 30, 2007 Just ordered the F335 in black. It'll be more of a beater than a bonder, but haven't had a NGD for a couple of years, and this may be the last, so I hope it's a good one. Thanks to all for supporting my GAS.
Members Cletus Spuckle Posted August 30, 2007 Members Posted August 30, 2007 You know what looks really cool? I used to have a black acoustic and I put a white pearloid pickguard on it. Looked nice, but it was a cheap guitar.
Members BlackCustom Posted August 30, 2007 Members Posted August 30, 2007 It was custom made by a luthier in Ohio (Don Banzer)It was my first major guitar purchase, and I still have and love it.
