Members eflat Posted September 4, 2007 Members Posted September 4, 2007 If you're serious about it then yeah, you'll want a small acoustic amp. If not an electic one is fine to mess about with, won't sound too good though. As for guitars, there are a few decent models out around the
Members indie precision Posted September 4, 2007 Author Members Posted September 4, 2007 Ok, thanks for the suggestions I'll check them out. I just realised I didn't include a link for the amp. I was thinking about buying either one of these:http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/peavey-/71511 Or one of these:http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/lc-15/9545
Members kwakatak Posted September 4, 2007 Members Posted September 4, 2007 It doesn't need to be amazing, I just want something to jam around on unplugged and to help improve my musical knowledge in chord construction ect that is harder to demonstrate on a bass....And finally, what should I look for amp-wise? Should I get a dedicated acoustic amp or is this fine?Thanks.-Indie I'm kind of confused. Are you looking for a guitar to learn/improve your technique or are you looking to perform/jam with others who may overshadow your guitar's volume? I'd say that if you're just looking to adjust to the instrument, then don't worry about the electronics just yet. IMO guitars at such low price points tend to skimp in certain areas in order to keep the cost down, and if part of that cost is a pickup/preamp then odd are the unplugged properties or even the playability of the guitar will be suffering. I'm of the mindset that it's best to get a guitar that feels good (or can be made to be at least passibly playable through a professional setup) and has decent unplugged tone before even considering extras such as a pickup/preamp or even an amp. Those things can be added later. A guitar that's only so-so cannot be radically improved upon. That's just my opinion though. If you find that either of these guitars feel comfortable to you and sound well enough for your purposes then by all means go for it.
