Members Stackabones Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 A little more home recording ... Instrumental version of Pretend, a standard Nat King Cole used to sing. Used my Yamaha AEX500N directly into the Zoom H4 w/ Acoustic reverb setting ... Cheers!
Members Pascal Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 That's some great, tasteful playing here, Stack. Beautiful. I wish you used the external microphones, though, so that we'd hear the proper tone of the guitar, and not just the piezo. But then... when the music is that good, who cares?
Members Queequeg Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Very nice, Chris. Beautiful tune, lovingly executed. Good use of dynamics, attacks and I like the dissolves, as you slide down the fretboard.
Members Sisyphus2 Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Beautiful - lovely feel and great improvised runs etc Dont be offended if I say I might make a friend whos having trouble sleeping listen to it...Thanks

There isn't much "proper tone" of the guitar I used, a Yamaha AEX500N2--thin-line (50mm depth) semi-hollow body nylon string. It's basically an electric nylon with a piezo, even has the thin electric neck (43mm)! Maybe I should use my Baggs PADI for future recordings?

Music has many uses. Never even imagined that my track could help some one out! I sometimes listen to mellow solo guitar music for the same reason. * A side note, I recorded this in my living room late Saturday night while watching "Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels"! Just one pass while reading the chart. I like the freedom the Zoom gives me to record when and where I get the urge. I always felt a bit tied down at my computer to record straight into GarageBand, staring at the screen. Now, I feel like I can record anywhere, anytime.
Members riffmeister Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Good stuff! Nice playing and great tune!! .

Members Dave W. Posted September 4, 2007 Members Posted September 4, 2007 Excellent Stack! I used to listen to a lot of Tony Mottola in the 70's, remindes me very much of him. Love that tone.
Members brahmz118 Posted September 4, 2007 Members Posted September 4, 2007 Wonderful as usual, Stack. I wish I could play like that. Are you using a flatpick? Your playing is very fluid.
Members Stackabones Posted September 4, 2007 Author Members Posted September 4, 2007 Thanks all! I'm using a Wegen Gypsy Jazz pick, 3.5mm, and my fingers--chicken pickin', hybrid picking, whatever you want to call it. Tony Mottola? I'll have to look him up! EDIT: Just did. Wow, looks like that guy did everything! Thanks for the compliment and the tip.

Wow, looks like that guy did everything! Thanks for the compliment and the tip. He was kind of the king of chord melody. He also played in Doc Sevrensens band on the Tonight Show in Johnny Carson's days. Did a bit with Sinatra too if I recall. They guy could really play.
Members Cowboy in Idaho Posted September 4, 2007 Members Posted September 4, 2007 Thanks Chris, very tasty interp of a fine tune
