Sip de rum

Another Zoom (recording) and Garageband (mixing) project. Plugged my Yahama AEX500N straight into the Zoom and used one of the effects in there. Vox and rainstick/shaker were captured with the Zoom stereo mics ... effect setting was "lead vocal."

For those who like to play at home: capo on the fourth fret mainly using a C major cowboy chord and some travis picking. Guitars are double tracked and panned hard left and right, except for the quasi-African thing at the end which is set in the middle and back in the mix a bit.

Cheers!

good tune. Its got that creole Caribbean flavor to the sound and the lyrics. Making me anxious to get back down to the islands. I'm on my way there this Saturday again, but listening to this, I want to start packing tonight.

Pics when you get back, Queequeg! I've never been down there. Do you take your guitar?

When I moved down there for 2 years back in 1999 I took a Baby Taylor with me because I was moving between islands a fair amount & it would fit in the overhead nicely.

This time I am only going for a week (to visit my g/f who is working there for 6 months) and I have so much to bring along that I'm not taking any guitar. I can get by for a week w/o a guitar.

(I think)

Thanks for listening, everyone!!!

I was clicking around at the SoundClick site and checked the charts. Sip de rum was at #10 in Acoustic Vocals!

A Top 10 Hit!!! :thu: My first evah!

Couldn't have done it without you. :)

Niiiiiiiiice!

The arrangements and harmonies are really nice touches. Very effective above the obsessively repeated rhythm section.

Certainly worthy of the Top 10. :thu:

Nice different "vibe". And thank god for the lyrics page cuz I thought you were saying something else was going "numb"...lol but serious.

Something different, very nice. The vocal harmonies are subtle and effective.

I consider myself an instumentalist first and a vocalist second, so the comments about the harmonies that both you and Pascal noted have really made me feel great. Thanks so much! :)
