Members jedistar Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 After spending the last year crusing forums asking for opinions on acoustics clinched a deal today...Where I come from I am never gonna see llet alone play one of the following before purchase...Collings, Bourgeois or Martin D28 Marquis. I decided based on reviews that Adirondack tops seemed to desirable and weell reviewed - and Brazilian was way out of my league so had been looking for a Marquis...then I saw some Bourgeois come up and although not as traditional (screw on neck) the opinions were pretty good...and cheaper... Australian dollar crashed against US and USPS put up its shipping rates to here so it was becoming more difficult to justify the total cost of a US import. Anyway Friday night a 3 month old Bourgeois Vintage D appeared on eBay close to where I live and today I confirmed the sale.... Last time I was looking at an acoustic was with my wife before we got married in 1989...then we had babies and all that..so never got to make that purchase... Pick it up next Tuesday...fingers crossed..
Members Tony Burns Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Congratulations - Thats neat that you found what you wanted without having to import it - almost like a Cinderella story-- you have to post picture of it when you get it, Bourgeois is one of my personal favorites -
Members riffmeister Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 great score! I'll wager that your patience will be well rewarded!! .

Members jedistar Posted September 14, 2007 Author Members Posted September 14, 2007 Well I finally picked it up. The initial impression was a little disappointing - it is a very nice case - TKL with plush velour - unfortunately mice have been at the outside vinyl so it is looking kinda vintage - but oh well - its what's inside that counts..lot's more bear claw than I expected. No bling - but I'm happy. Oh and it sounds gorgeous...
Members Fuzzbomb20 Posted September 14, 2007 Members Posted September 14, 2007 that guitar looks beautiful, I hope you enjoy playing it in!
Members guitarist21 Posted September 14, 2007 Members Posted September 14, 2007 Wow! I've never seen a top quite that bear-clawed. But it is nonetheless a remarkably gorgeous guit. Congrats! Ellen
Members T.B. Posted September 14, 2007 Members Posted September 14, 2007 Boy, at first I thought you where disappointed in the guitar, then I quickly read to the end. That's a beautiful looking guitar; it has an understated elegance about it cosmetically, open back tuners, square inlay, and bear claw to add a 'wee' bit of flare. I guess bear claw is a either you like or you don't, I like. Congrats Jedistar, happy playing. Cheers. Trina
Members knockwood Posted September 14, 2007 Members Posted September 14, 2007 Damn, that's a beautiful guitar. Congratulations. I don't think I've ever seen a bearclaw Adi top before. Seriously gorgeous. If it sounds a fraction as good as it looks... Whoa.
Members Cripes Posted September 14, 2007 Members Posted September 14, 2007 Yep, worth the wait. Curious...why'd the owner sell it?
Members jedistar Posted September 15, 2007 Author Members Posted September 15, 2007 Yep, worth the wait. Curious...why'd the owner sell it it? He was living locally but had bought a house in Sydney. Was selling his whole collection for the $ - inlcuding a Strat, Gibson J45. The only guitar he was keeping was a J45 Brazilian Rosewood - I think he should have kept the Bourgeois - but I'm not complaining...
Members Stackabones Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Whoa!!! Nice lookin' git!!!
Members bbarkow Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Very nice. I'll bet that that wide-grained top sounds like the voice of God. Congrats!
Members Tony Burns Posted September 17, 2007 Members Posted September 17, 2007 I think that is a very pretty top - bet it rings like a bell - nice to know that beauty is in someones hands who appreciates it -- again congratulations , thats a keeper - ever wonder how anyone could ever sell a guitar like that , that would be one you would have to pry from my cold dead hands !
