Members guitarist21 Posted September 12, 2007 Members Posted September 12, 2007 ...that I've never seen before. It's a jazz box. It is red (haha like that helps). It is apparently a semi-hollowbody or maybe all hollow. It is fairly thick, at least a couple inches, and has one DeArmond-looking pickup at the neck. The headstock matches the finish of the body. Really sweet, woody tone. Anyone familiar with Guild jazz boxes? I couldn't really find much online. And sorry, I probably can't get a pic. If you need more info, just ask and I'll try to remember. Or I can tell you when I have this class again, which is next Tuesday. I'm just curious about where this guitar came from, when it was made, etc. Ellen
Members Stackabones Posted September 12, 2007 Members Posted September 12, 2007 Take a pic with your cell phone the next time you see him. Ask him what that buzzing sound is outside of his studio, and while he's gone ... snap, snap! Wish I could help out more. Sounds like a cool guitar!

Members T.B. Posted September 13, 2007 Members Posted September 13, 2007 Thumbed through one of my old Guild catalogues and came up with this. I should say saw these in the Guild catalogue and found pics on the web. http://www.ggjaguar.com/x160.htm http://cgi.ebay.com/2001-Guild-DeArmond-X-155-Hollowbody-Electric-Guitar_W0QQitemZ120160282091QQihZ002QQcategoryZ41436QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Near-Mint-Guild-X150D-X-150D-Savoy-Archtop-Jazz-Guitar_W0QQitemZ250162623566QQihZ015QQcategoryZ41436QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160156080468 http://www.musiciansbuy.com/GUILD_X150_SAVOY_GUITAR_ATB.html Trina
Members T.B. Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I wonder if it's was a Guild T-50? If not, I give up.

She doesn't know much about it, says she got it second hand and is pretty sure everything is stock. Sorry the picture isn't great, I took it on my phone on the way out from class. You can't really see the pickup but it looks just like the DeArmond-looking pickup in the Guild Trina posted. Very nice sounding guitar, very woody and natural-sounding. Ellen
Members T.B. Posted September 19, 2007 Members Posted September 19, 2007 It's time to go to the source, I think. http://www.letstalkguild.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=3 The only thing that comes close to that Guild in my catalogue is, the Guild X150 Savoy. Except the X150's have Chesterfield motifs and pearloid block inlays. Of course the X150 had been in the Guild Archtop lineup since 54, it was discontinued in 03, I think. That Jazz Box may have gone through some moderate cosmetic changes through the years, but I don't have any proof nor knowledge that substantiate this claim. Trina
