Members leftync Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 As usual, I'm asking before I buy. I'm considering one of those neckup things. Both my guitars are dreads. I'm a fairly big guy, so the size isn't usually a problem, and mostly I play while seated on a couch or a bed. Sometimes when seated on a chair I wonder if I shouldn't have bought something smaller. Seems to me this might be solved by this product.Any one out there use one?

Members jd-drafter Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 i think this is the device he is looking at- http://www.guitarpeople.com/gear/gear-neckup.asp seems to make sense- like to try one maybe-
Members Stackabones Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 I'd always wondered what those things were called. I've seen some players use them ... looked like it worked well for them. Sure beats crossing one leg over the other and having your foot fall asleep! Here's their website ...http://www.neckup.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc
Members Cripes Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 My neck is up, it's down, it goes back up, it's all around. I move when playing. I don't think I'd be able to use that thing. Too stiff.
Members babablowfish Posted September 24, 2007 Members Posted September 24, 2007 This makes no sense to me. Use a strap and you can have the guitar at whatever angle you want. I use a strap no matter how I play - seated, standing or lying in the tub.
Members Cripes Posted September 24, 2007 Members Posted September 24, 2007 I use a strap no matter how I play - seated, standing or lying in the tub. Now there's a visual image suitable for T-shirt art.

Members JasmineTea Posted September 24, 2007 Members Posted September 24, 2007 I use a chair, whether I'm in the tub or not.
Members Queequeg Posted September 24, 2007 Members Posted September 24, 2007 That thing looks real gimmicky to me. and you guys playing in the tub; be careful out there. I hope this is the unplugged version.74.65% of all electric guitar accidents happen @ home.

Seems to me this might be solved by this product.Any one out there use one? I've been using a neck-up for about three years, now. I use it on a classical guitar because the footstool was causing me to have back problems. The neck-up allows me to keep both my feet on the groung and stay comfortable while I'm playing. The position allows me full access to the neck and is adjustable. I use the end pin to secure one end and one of the suction cups provided to secure it at the waist. YMMV.
Members RizinRico Posted September 27, 2007 Members Posted September 27, 2007 I am using the little neck up on my electric an an Aframe on the acoustics. i find that the Aframe gives me more options and adjustability. the rubber suction cups may be a prob for some finishes but nothing seems to hurt polyester. I like them a lot as they help me stay in balanced comfort as I play...now if I could just play...
