Members johnkline Posted September 30, 2007 Members Posted September 30, 2007 With an acoustic, Do you like the convenience of an onboard eq preamp installed at the factory, (any brand), or do you like to add your own aftermarket pickup and do tweaking at the amp, etc. I'm considering a Larrivee with the lr baggs pickup already in there for convenience, price, and laziness...if only it had an onboard tuner. ;-)
Members Danocoustic Posted September 30, 2007 Members Posted September 30, 2007 I prefer to install my own electronics. I don't like the "barn door" in my guitars' bodies; I'd rather go outboard to an LR Baggs PADI for the preamp and tone-tweaking functions. And I like to choose the pickup I want, not the one the manufacturer chose. That said, the reasons you gave for choosing factory-installed stuff are all valid, too.
