Members Osmur Posted October 1, 2007 Members Posted October 1, 2007 I am planning to buy a 1958 Martin 0-15 acoustic guitar but don't want to spend WAY too much. If anyone has every played this guitar, knows an approximate value of it, or has any opinions of it... please let me know! I'm willing to spend a lot, just I don't wanna buy it for so and so, and know I could have got it at a much better price. Here is a picture of it: Thanks for any help you can give me!
Members Freeman Keller Posted October 1, 2007 Members Posted October 1, 2007 Osmur, if possible post your question at the Vintage subforum here. http://p082.ezboard.com/btheunofficialmartinguitarforum Many of these guys know the exact value of every Martin ever made and are all too willing to help you. I would add that the value and playability can be dramatically altered by the condition - be sure to check neck angle and if it needs a reset factor anywhere from $300 to maybe 600 into the costs. Should be a fun little git.
Members guitarcapo Posted October 1, 2007 Members Posted October 1, 2007 In good shape and not needing a neck reset I would say around 800 dollars. BTW Harmony made an all solid mahogany similar guitar back in that same time period that sells for a lot cheaper on the vintage market. You might want to check it out.
Members Freeman Keller Posted October 1, 2007 Members Posted October 1, 2007 There was a 53 0-15 on UMGF a while back for 1200 http://p082.ezboard.com/ftheunofficialmartinguitarforumfrm3.showMessage?topicID=13063.topic and a thread about these critters pre and post war. http://p082.ezboard.com/ftheunofficialmartinguitarforumfrm3.showMessageRange?topicID=12966.topic Sounds like 800 to maybe 1500 for yours in great shape, less if it needs a reset, prewar 2 to 3K. This is good info for me - my sis-in-law is in the process of "acquiring" her ex-hubbies 30's 00-17 and I might take it off her hands. Needs a reset, but cool little finger picker.
Members guitarcapo Posted October 2, 2007 Members Posted October 2, 2007 About 5 yeas ago I sold a 1939 Martin tenor guitar that was all mahogany for700 dollars. It did have major repair to one side though.
