Members zortmuckerman1 Posted September 22, 2007 Members Posted September 22, 2007 Does anyone make an acoustic or classical guitar with a maple fretboard? I was trying to imagine how one would like and in my mind it looks pretty cool!
Members garthman Posted October 2, 2007 Members Posted October 2, 2007 I have no idea (I just posted this because I noticed no-one else has contributed to this thread and I am also starting withdrawal training for tomorrow)
Members dhoenisch Posted October 2, 2007 Members Posted October 2, 2007 I'm repairing a POS guitar from the 80's (a Magnum) for my sister's husband. I don't have a perfect shot of the neck, but you can see the maple. Actually, this entire guitar is of maple construction, with the exception of the top (though the entire body is laminated). Oh, and in case you are wondering, I had to steam out the bulge that it had in it from the extensive string pull while it was in a hot parked car. This is after it is steamed, and I have it clamped down for a week to level out the bulge, and right before regluing the braces. Dan
Members bsman Posted October 2, 2007 Members Posted October 2, 2007 Tanglewood (British guitarmaker) have several models with maple fingerboards. Never actually seen one, but they're pretty! And there's always Martin's HDN (Negative guitar). Dylan used one on a recent tour my son attended:
