Members Dan Hall Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Thanks Terry, I needed that. Old Gilmour is holding up well isn't he. Wow, he's for sure older than me and that's about as old as dirt.
Members denvertrakker Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Old Gilmour is holding up well isn't he. Wow, he's for sure older than me and that's about as old as dirt. Or, as Moms Mabley used to say about her husband, "He's older than air and twice as polluted.":D Lauren, please explain "Bob's your uncle." I know what it means (i.e., how it's used), but what does it mean?
Members Queequeg Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Lauren, please explain "Bob's your uncle." I know what it means (i.e., how it's used), but what does it mean? I think it is abbreviated from, "and as fast as you can say, 'Bob's your uncle'..." and hey, why is abbreviated such a long word. I mean, after all...
Members lauren Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 spot on, and just to add a little more context, susually when something has to be doen and you say 'bob's your uncle', but also when you are agreeing with someone about something, usually something that's going to happen, a guaranteed outcome. I think it is abbreviated from, "and as fast as you can say, 'Bob's your uncle'..."and hey, why is abbreviated such a long word. I mean, after all... yeah that's a strange one....
