Members lauren Posted October 9, 2007 Members Posted October 9, 2007 So pretty to look at and to play. Have been looking for a while and this caught my ebay eye. Like my other Eko it is a tank re. weight but small enough for my small hands. Still in tune when it turned up, plays sweet and clear. Eko Ranchero 12 c1969 -

Members babablowfish Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Congratulations Lauren. I hope you enjoy your new 12 string. Can you tell us something about Ekos? I have never heard of the brand myself and would be interested to learn something about them.
Members Queequeg Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 a beauty! Congratulations, Lauren.Oh come on. Let's hear a bit of it.
Members garthman Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Hi Baba A bit about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eko_guitars And a bit more here: http://www.fetishguitars.com/index/eko.html And here: http://www.eko.it/ I don't know much about the electric guitars but the 60's and 70's acoustics are becoming collectable (saw a very good condition Ranger VI in a used guitar shop here in the Uk recently with a price tag of
Members lauren Posted October 10, 2007 Author Members Posted October 10, 2007 I also have a 6 string either Ranger or Rio Bravo, very difficult to tell as model unreadable on the label. These guitars are built like tanks and are very heavy, but they have a great sound, deep yet clear. Interestingly lots for sale on ebay in the uk at the moment. From one of the websites looks like my 12 string is 1973 not 1969. You definitely don't want to get into a fight with one of these, would make micemeat of all your Martins, Taylors and Larivees!!! Members fatback Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Congratulations Lauren. I hope you enjoy your new 12 string. Can you tell us something about Ekos? I have never heard of the brand myself and would be interested to learn something about them. I believe they were originally an Italian make - however they went bust. However the leftover parts of quite a number of these were purchased and are now made up in Wembley north London (I think) Phil
Members simplygoodmusic Posted October 11, 2007 Members Posted October 11, 2007 We see so many EKOs over here. They are usually really good beaters for the price, but occasionally they make some fantastic instruments. My old music school had an EKO bass, they bought for I think 50 euro. It was, no kidding, one of the best basses I've played in my life.
Members Cripes Posted October 11, 2007 Members Posted October 11, 2007 Congrats Lauren. Try on a Guild F-412 if you think your EKO 12 is heavy. And, what do the initials EKO stand for?
Members Hudman Posted October 12, 2007 Members Posted October 12, 2007 Congrats Lauren! I never owned a 12 string.
