be better for my playing which is alot of fingerpicking and heavy strumming

Well, normally the dread is the quintessential strummer's guitar.

However you should play both and decide for yourself.

Many guitarists play many styles on all sort of guitars.

I've played a few Washburns. Nice guitars. It's one of those makes that leave you thinking there's no reason to pay more for a high-end and get little in the offing.

Well if you like fingerpicking AND "heavy" strumming, you're probably better off with the dread. Like moctzal said, you really ought to play both and pick one, but if I had to choose one for you right now I'd pick the dread. Many small-bodied guitars compress significantly under heavy strumming and sound bad. My Epi Masterbilt can take up to what I would call medium-heavy strumming before it compresses like crazy. I bought it because I found it to handle strumming better than many other small-bodied guitars.
