Members juice Posted October 18, 2007 Members Posted October 18, 2007 I'm wanting to pick up a Gretsch 5120 but need to sell something first. I have two acoustics and really need one only, so I am trying to decide which i should unload. I have an Epi J-200 and a Seagull S6. I like them both equally. The Epi despite being a laminate top plays AWESOME, and the Seagull is good as well. I'm TORN!!! Oh yeah, I have no case for the Seagull (Roadhouse gig bag) and I have a TKL hardshell case for the Epi which would probably make them equal as far as value i think.

Members guitarist21 Posted October 18, 2007 Members Posted October 18, 2007 I agree. If I were you I'd sell the Epi. Partially because I like Seagulls better, partially because I think that in a couple years, people will see that Seagulls have only gotten better with time and they'll probably be wiling to shell out a little more for them. Members simplygoodmusic Posted October 18, 2007 Members Posted October 18, 2007 I disagree. Sure, if I didnt know either guitar, I'd say the epi...but your reaction shows me that you care more about the epi. Screw whether its laminate or not. A good guitar is a good guitar.
Members JaLester Posted October 18, 2007 Members Posted October 18, 2007 I think you should sell the epi as well. I love my seagull and think they are amazing for their price. However if you want to sell the seagull, you will have have plenty of people interested. I think its easier to sell the 'gull instead of the epi. It's just a choice you got to make, but I would keep the seagull.
Members bsman Posted October 18, 2007 Members Posted October 18, 2007 Not helping with your conundrum, but I have a 5120 and love it. One thing though - you'll want to adjust the pickups to get them closer to the strings. Every one I've played in stores has the pickups set way, way too low!' alt='>'>
Members geek_usa Posted October 18, 2007 Members Posted October 18, 2007 I'd dump the seagull in a ditch somewhere. Just make sure you tell me WHICH ditch!

I would sell the Epi but you described the Epi as Awesome and Seagull as 'good'. So I'm thinking you like your EPi better. So sell the Seagul.. To me .. For 2 dollars and Seventy-Five cents.
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted October 18, 2007 Members Posted October 18, 2007 I'd be inclined to hang onto the Epi, myself...
