Members Whalebot Posted October 9, 2007 Members Posted October 9, 2007 We all got the bug. We all self diagnose. Me? I buy when the seasons change and I get a bit depressed, my gits dry out a bit and don't sing like they aught to. I get down when I've got no money which is a shame cause then I just go and sell something to get something else. Crap, sounds like a Lou Reed song.Anywho, now I just want a Guild to go gigging with. One of those new pretty F type ones.
Members missedmyexit Posted October 9, 2007 Members Posted October 9, 2007 I've been wanting a Guild Dread to gig with myself. I don't have the selling bug alot. Just the buying one. Which since I have no money is the stare at the pictures and cry bug.. oh well..

Members riffmeister Posted October 9, 2007 Members Posted October 9, 2007 Now yer talkin'. Another addition to the no-pins club. What 'tis it? 'Tis a neato '93 spruce/Brazilian Manuel Velazquez. Makes #5 from Don Manuel in my collection. The obsession continues....

Ah. I Googled "Manuel Velazquez" and found some listings...choke...Any guitar where, under "price", it says "inquire"...I'd better not ask.

One of those new pretty F type ones. I hear ya! i just sold all three of my guitars and an amp and then got two new guits. I sold two Takamines and a Gretsch G3700 and got a Larrivee D-03 and a Taylor 110 (Taylor was a trade).
Members guitarist21 Posted October 9, 2007 Members Posted October 9, 2007 I don't think I've ever had the selling bug. Ellen
Members Howie22 Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 I don't think I've ever had the selling bug. Ellen Perhaps you haven't had a guitar you didn't like.I've had this Taylor 110 for two days, and already I'm thinking I'm going to sell it and buy something else. I played an Epiphone Masterbilt today. I wonder what a 110 would go for used?

Just about enough to get you within kissing range of an Epi. Great guitars, but as folks here can tell you, I'm an elitist, I bought and sold two of those. Didn't scratch my itch I guess.
Members Howie22 Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 A quick check of completed auctions on eBay shows between $366.00 and $385.00 used. A new one sold for $440.00.I would suspect you would receive less than the above by trading it in. YMMV. Good info. There would be no trading it in. I knew they would lowball me. I inquired, and they said $225. New ones in GC go for $599. I'd bet I could get close to $400 on Craigslist. That's very close to the Epi price.

I've had this Taylor 110 for two days, and already I'm thinking I'm going to sell it and buy something else. I played an Epiphone Masterbilt today. I wonder what a 110 would go for used? Hey.. I had a 110 for a few weeks. I bought it on craigslist NY for 350, and sold it for 330. It was a fairly easy sell. It did take more than one post, but after about 2 weeks, the guitar was sold. I have seen other people ask for much more than 330, though. One guy even asked for 700.. It costs, what, 600 new? So asking for 400 would still be reasonable. Also, you might get more $$$ on ebay.

You are going to sell a 2 day old guitar? Return it for a refund.
Members spruce goose Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 You are going to sell a 2 day old guitar?Return it for a refund. I assumed he bought it used....
Members Howie22 Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 I assumed he bought it used.... I did. It was actually in trade for something else. I don't really dislike the Taylor, it's just a little bright for my tastes. I changed the strings (had Elixirs) when I got it, and that helped a bit. I'm also thinking I'll put in ebony bridge pins to see what that does. I'm in no rush to buy something new, as the Taylor is my backup. I'll probably wait until I have a little $$$ coming in from gigging, and then buy something else. I do like the Epi, but I think I REALLY want a Larrivee LV-03R or LV-09. That will take some saving!! After all, I already have a mahogany backed dread.
Members Whalebot Posted October 10, 2007 Author Members Posted October 10, 2007 I may do this guys, sell my drop dead gorgeous L-09 K&K pup uninstalled, damn, to do or not to do...
Members guitarist21 Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 I may do this guys, sell my drop dead gorgeous L-09 K&K pup uninstalled, damn, to do or not to do... To get the Guild? Which F-type are you GASing over? I've only played the F-212 and it was very nice but I'd personally rather have the L-09 with a K&K installed. Ellen
Members pharmboyjoe Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 I'm not following the logic here-- you can actually sell a guitar? I just have a room where they go if they do something bad. Then a coupla years later I fix em up and it's like getting a new guitar There were strong ones, tall ones, short ones, brown ones, black ones, round ones, big ones, crazy ones. Out of the middle came a favorite
Members T.B. Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 I've being eyeing the Guild CV-1 and the reissued F47R for a while now, I'm certain at some point I'll get either or. I'm not crazy about selling any of my guitars, but the rule is if one joins the family another has to let go. I won't have to make my mind for awhile; I've been reduced to one arm/hand. Just call me "lefty". Trina
Members lauren Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 that is the question...never done it myself, like getting rid of a baby, however, not too many attachment issues over a 2 day old.
Members Cripes Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 I just getted me a new gui-tar. The obsession continues... I'm next for a classical. Ever see the free ends of the strings tucked under adjacent string wraps at the bridge. I used to do that. PITA but it looked cool.
Members Cripes Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Whale, I had an OMV-09E I sold. Gorgeous guitar and I felt like I had my foot fairly well fitted up my shady side when I sold it but it just had to be done. If a guitar is missing that inexplicable something I get rid of them. Just feel like the tail is wagging the dog otherwise.

Members knockwood Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 If a guitar is missing that inexplicable something I get rid of them. This is my new resolution. So now I'm down to one git... The D-60, which is a definite lifer. And terrible, mounting GAS for all kinds of other stuff.
