Members Drazden@skewl Posted November 4, 2007 Members Posted November 4, 2007 Well, it's not MY guitar, per se. My dad just got his old Yamaha FG-300A back from my uncle (it was living there because my cousin thought he wanted to learn how to play.) Anyway, now that it's back... It freakin' stinks! Smoke and grunge and I'm not sure what else. How do I clean the stink out of an acoustic guitar? It's soaked into the wood in the soundhole, even.
Members MattSkibaIsGOD Posted November 4, 2007 Members Posted November 4, 2007 pour baking soda and rice in the sound hole. Tape the sound hole closed with masking tape, and shake for 10 minutes.
Members guit30 Posted November 4, 2007 Members Posted November 4, 2007 I have a pedal with strong cigarette smoke, trying febreeze Jim
Members Amanda-Jane Posted November 5, 2007 Members Posted November 5, 2007 maybe try putting the baking soda box or open container of- in the case with the guitar. It might help a bit.
Members zenbu Posted November 5, 2007 Members Posted November 5, 2007 thats happened to me too. got one recently that smelled musty...Japan is so freakin humid...to get the odor out of the case I set it outside in the sun for about a week...took it in at night, put it back out in the morn...and I keep the guitar out of the case. The musty smell is gone from the case and I keep the gutiar out...it got much better over the couple of months I`ve owned it. Some of my old Yamaha Dynamics smell dusty.
Members KennethNishimot Posted November 5, 2007 Members Posted November 5, 2007 Febreeze. A friend of mine used to use it to cover up the smell of weed smoke.
Members moctzal Posted November 5, 2007 Members Posted November 5, 2007 Yeah, I'd try a box of baking soda in the case with it for 2-3 days before putting anything in it...
