Members James_Russell Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 For those of you I did'nt meet in my first thread, Hi, I'm James. I have an electro-acoustic crafter (see avatar) which has really nice ivory/cottage cream colour binding, nut, and bridge, but the bridge pins are horrible brilliant white plastic and I think it really detracts from the looks of an otherwise beautiful guitar. I've seen others, like wooden ones, brass ones and obviously different coloured plastic ones, but before I buy some, I was just wondering what difference the pins, particularly the brass ones, would make to the sound and sustain of the guitar? Thanks in advance for your help,-James

Members Michael Martin Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 I was just wondering what difference the pins, particularly the brass ones, would make to the sound and sustain of the guitar? I switched to brass for my Yammie jumbo (it had plastic). They do make a noticeable difference in brightness and sustain, either plugged or amplified through my I-Beam/Gigpro/House PA. I'm really happy about the change (and I already liked the guitar's tone--I was just curious)--now that I know how to put the damn things in! (Hint: bend ball-end of string about 3/4"' up from the ball prior to insertion in bridge plate) Whoever it was who suggested that string-bend method awhile back--I owe you big time.
