Members RKO Posted November 2, 2007 Author Members Posted November 2, 2007 Nice guitar! I hadn't seen the Ami, but I have considered A&L in the past. I want to play one...

Members denvertrakker Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 http://www.cort.co.kr/english/products/acoustics/view.asp?product_id=32Trina Trina, you and I (and a few others) know those Corts are underrated little gems... But who would have one for sale in the US? Must be made of unobtanium.....
Members Chicken Monkey Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 I love my very cheap Fender Parlor. It was $170 new, but was a major impulse item about 6 months ago, so there may be a bunch of cheap regret guitars out there.
Members rjoxyz Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 Nice guitar! I hadn't seen the Ami, but I have considered A&L in the past. I want to play one... I bought a cedar topped Ami a couple months ago. Excellent and surprisingly full tone for such a diminutive body. Naturally, the bass is not its strong point, but not absent either. Very well suited for fingerpicking, though will take to a light touch with a pick. I have even learned to overlook the ridiculous rubber/plastic rosette.
Members Broadus Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 nice. trina, I'm in Louisville, are you nearby or at the other end of your very long state? I moved down here from Shelbyville, KY, five years ago. Yep, I've had my Ami for a couple of weeks now. You can find the solid top for $230 or so, including a very serviceable gig bag. In fact, it's so light in its bag with backpack straps that I walked four miles home from the office this evening with it. You surely won't go wrong with an Ami, though there are doubtlessly other choices out there. It makes for a great travel guitar and is handy when sitting around and want to play a bit. Bill
Members Stackabones Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 Must be made of unobtanium..... Man, I hate that stuff!
Members Crackpot Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 In your price range I like the Seagull Grand better than anything else I've tried. It's a nice little guitar. Sounds nice, it's very playable, and it's surprisingly loud.

Bill That's what I'm looking for, although I admit I sort of dream about one of those antique parlors with a great old tone. I'm actually in Fisherville, which is just across the Jefferson County line from Shelbyville. Sorry to lose you, neighbor. Was my playing THAT bad?
Members Pascal Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 Tanglewood TW73. Around $600 street price. Guitar Player Review
Members C70man Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 GC has a Parkwood (Cort?) for around $300. Looks nice, sounds nice.
Members garthman Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 Have a look at the Crafter TA range: http://www.crafterusa.com/gallery/tr_ta_tc_series_main.php# These are seriously good guitars!
Members fatback Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 http://www.crafterguitars.com/gallery_acoustic/tr_ta_jm_series_main.php# I have the TA 050 - slotted head stock - they say its a 000 but its mid-way between the 000 and a parlour. Colour in real life better than the picture Phil

I'm actually in Fisherville, which is just across the Jefferson County line from Shelbyville. Sorry to lose you, neighbor. Was my playing THAT bad? I would have probably been envious, not distressed. If I moved to get away from bad guitar playing, I'd be always trying to move away from me. Though I'm a native Georgian, I do miss Kentucky. I was doing grad work at SBTS. Hope you the best on finding your parlor. Bill
Members Hudman Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 GC has a Parkwood (Cort?) for around $300. Looks nice, sounds nice. I think that is an OM sized guitar.
Members yisrael42 Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 I also really like the Seagull Grand!
Members EvilTwin Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 The Seagull Grand/A&L Ami are great. Hard to beat for the money, IMO.
Members pk1fan Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 I have a Norman B20 Folk guitar which is parlor size kind of . I picked mine up used for cheap .http://larkinthemorning.com/product.asp?pn=SPS217&sid=FROOGLE&EID=X1814001&catalog_code=1X814 I bought mine in a pawn shop in a very hard to play poor setup , after I adjusted it very nice indeed:)!
Members happy-man Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 I had no experience with parlors and I ran across a Simon & Patrick that I fell for. http://www.simonandpatrick.com/woodlandparlor.htm I got it new for $210 since it was old stock from a bought out store. I did need to set it up when I got it; the nut was too high. It's a sweet little guitar. Scott O

RKO, I'm at the other end of the state, Northwest IN, Ogden Dunes. My mother is from Louisville and her siblings live there still so, I/we come to Louisville often. Small world. Trina P.S. Oh yeah! I bought mine 3 years ago from Dr. Clucks Online Warehouse. A gentleman over on AG gear forum bought one and posted pic's. I asked him where he bought his...... he told me Dr. Clucks. Really nice folks very professional. Dr. C has an Ebay store too, from time to time they sale Cort's and this particular model there. Here's the info. http://www.drclucks.net/fusemain.cfm?section=search Trina
Members knowspicker Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 I like the Seagull Grand and the Art & Lutherie Ami. I played both before I bought my Ami Cedar. To me the Ami had a little fuller tone. Maybe due the the bridge placement. The Ami has 12 frets clear and the Grand 14 so that have been it. The Grand does have nicer fit and finish. Both were surprisingly loud and full for their size.
Members Freeman Keller Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 RKO, I've got about that much in a pile of wood under the bench that says "LMI parlor" on the box. One of these days I've got to start building.....
