Of my son.

Digging around on the hard drive I came across these tunes by my son Kayle from some time ago. At the time he had a heavy metal band called Dead Zero and were very good.

One day he came over for a visit. I was doing some audio work so I had the computer and recording and editing program loaded up. Anyway, he grabbed the Guild D4 I had at the time, sat on the floor and did some music. Well it sounded pretty good so I fired up the recorder. Here's "Pain", recorded through a MXL 1006 LD mic, a Phonic mixer, Soundblaster Live soundcard into n-Track Studio from about 8 feet away. This recording is dry, just the way it came out, other than the conversion to mp3. When Kayle realized I had the recorder on he stopped. That's what you hear at the end.

Also, while I'm bragging on my son, here's his cover of John Prine's Six o'Clock News.

Great! Great taste in songs too! His voice has authority. That's unusual for a kid. Congratulations.

He's farther along than my son down the music trail.

That's ok with me too. Mine's actually cracking the books now. He'll be my first to graduate from college. LSU Class of 08. He's thinking law school - against my advice.

He did steal my F-65ce though.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Marc, I'm guessing Kayle was 24 or 25 when "Pain was captured & a couple of years older on the other recording. That was recorded by a friend of his in, though not a full blown studio, a better location than the room the first was done in.

Misha, the problem must be on your end. The site has no restrictions to ISPs coming in.

Baba & T.B. Thank you as well. I am proud and think he's a much better singer than I, and he's a much better guitar player for sure. I think I showed him 3 or 4 chords and he's done the rest.

I'm proud as well, of his love of music and very pleased that his tastes are not restricted and loves a huge variety of music, including traditional, folk, americana and a slew of others. He's kind of involved in a duo doing some Irish acoustic stuff too. I don't know if he has any of that recorded yet.

You should be proud. He's got some great talent there. His voice sounds so full...as it was put prior...authoritive. And his guitar playing is so clean. Thanks for sharing.
