Members Kitarist Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Hello I'm looking for a good budget guitar. I dont care if it says fender gibson martin blabla... i just want to find a good nice sounding guitar for a good price. I mostly play electric guitars and i also dont care what brand is it but i'm mostly into 80s MIJ guitars because of their amazing quality and price (greco, aria...) so is there something similiar for the acoustic line ? Was there any company that made amazing guitar copies in the 80s on 90s and are MIJ or so ? I'm mostly into fingerpicking and flatpicking.. and looking for a guitar with low action for easy playing (tommy emmanuel, chet atkins...) i want something similiar to emanuels tone. Sorry i'm not so informed about acoustic guitar so thats why i ask here thanks again
Members Kitarist Posted August 27, 2007 Author Members Posted August 27, 2007 i checked some epiphone masterbilt samples and they really sound good. does anyone own one of those series
Members blu3jenius Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Masterbilts are very solid guitars. They sound great too. I do not own one but have played it and many on this forum own them. It would be a good choice. If you are looking at the Masterbilt price range, i also suggest the Guild GAD50 (almost purchased one), Washburn Timbercraft Series (own one) and several Takamines. Go into a shop and start with some of these and play others in your price range.
Members Bernie P. Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 I own the EF500RA and love it.I've tried several other Masterbilts and the AJ500RC 12 fret will likely be my next git.I also have a GAD JF30.At first I wasn't all that crazy about the sound but it seems to have opened up some and combined with new/better strings is starting to grow on me.
Members Harmonycat Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Buy the Aria AD-35 on ebay right now. The price is right. It is one of the best Martin D-28 Copies ever made!!!I own one of those Aria AD-80 guitars. It is a Fabulous Martin D-42 copy. These are superbly crafted and sound amazing. They do not sound out of place with some of my acoustics which are $1000.00 or more!
Members blu3jenius Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Like Harmonycat said, the AD-35 is a great guitar also. I think Harmony's referring to this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Aria-AD35-Acoustic-Guitar_W0QQitemZ200145907357QQihZ010QQcategoryZ2385QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It also says that shipping isn't $80 like listed. So i would ask. Under $300 would be an amazing deal for that guitar
Members 6942 Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 I have a Washburn D10SDL that I like VERY much (new B-stock - $71).Look at P-Hill on e-bay (no affiliation). I have a 1986, MIJ, Westone Spectrum ST that I LOVE VERY much (priceless). Steve

Members kwakatak Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Larrivee 03 series. All solid wood, $700-$800 new, made in Canada.
Members dangerine49 Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 What's your "budget"? Epiphone Masterbuilts and Guild GAD's are pretty good for medium priced guitars. Not sure what brands they sell in your country. Look for Lakewood guitars, German I think, which seem to get good reviews.
Members Tony Burns Posted August 27, 2007 Members Posted August 27, 2007 Ill second the Larrys - their the best buy for all wood guitars youll get- period , plus their quality !
Members kwakatak Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 I forgot to add in my previous post that the quality of the Larrivee 03 series is comparable to Taylors and Martins that cost well over $1000. The only difference is the satin finish, which many 03 owners have buffed to a semi gloss with some Maguires auto products.
Members Kitarist Posted August 28, 2007 Author Members Posted August 28, 2007 wow thanks for all those nice replies
Members Kitarist Posted August 28, 2007 Author Members Posted August 28, 2007 oh yea my budget is around 500 600 bucks and i'm sure i can get an amazing guitar for that price.
Members mhelin Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 Larrivee 03 series. All solid wood, $700-$800 new, made in Canada. So they *should* cost
Members Kitarist Posted August 28, 2007 Author Members Posted August 28, 2007 yep here in europe prices are higher :| oh well
Members Greymuzzle Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 I recently got a Johnson Carolina series ll JO27. Basically it is a copy of the Martin 000-28 with forward shifted x bracing etc. after a bit of tweaking to get the action desired it is a stonking little guitar for the money. the JD27 is a dreadnaught version. My experience is valid even on UK prices, in USA the value is almost indecent.
Members Stockard Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 I have an EF500R Masterbilt-I really like it! It plays well and sounds well. It is constructed strongly,
