Members nrubhsaw Posted December 5, 2007 Members Posted December 5, 2007 Thanks to you guys the fourth pickin' finger is back in the line-up (silly to waste that callous I'd built up anyway). Since I started my practice "studio'' was lying back in bed propped up by a couple of pillows; I'd do this for an hour or so while the wife had departed and taken the dog for a walk. Initially, with the neck on a horizontal plane, my left wrist hurt a bit but this had settled down after a couple of days or so.Last week however I moved to a sitting position at the end of the bed 'cos I wanted to see my fingers reflected in the dressing mirror (particularly the fretting hand 'cos I have a hard time trying to identify chords I see people making in that "front-on'' viewing position). Whatever, in my first post I'd complained about a sore left hand index finger ... since bringing the neck back to a more vertical plane this problem has all but disappeared.CheersBob
Members OldGuitarPlayer Posted December 5, 2007 Members Posted December 5, 2007 Thats good news. It should not be painful to play guitar. It's amazing how much your posture can affect other things about your playing. I personally like to sit straight up in a chair yet relaxed when I'm playing guitar. Some folks like to stand...I am too lazy for that.
Members babablowfish Posted December 5, 2007 Members Posted December 5, 2007 Glad to hear things are improving. I learned how to strum and move quickly through the different chords sitting on my bed. Good memories.Keep us posted on your progress.
