Members OldGuitarPlayer Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 Yes...I thought I'd seen everything until.... Just look at the condition of poor Trigger...
Members Freeman Keller Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 Both Willie and Trigger are showing the miles
Members T.B. Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 This video should be kept on file so the next time any of use come to HCAG in a panic about a crack, dent, scratch, finish melt down or other ....... just show us/them a pic of Wilie's trigger. A picture of his ax should should keep it all in perspective. Trina
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 Just look at the condition of poor Trigger... That was filmed in the mid-'90s...ol' Trigger's "extra hole" is somewhat bigger now...I think I'd've installed a golpeador (the tap-plate on a flamenco guitar) or a pickguard long before it had got to this point, but that's Willie!

Trina When I'm looking in a mirror and grumbling about what I see, a glance at Willie's pic is all it takes to change my perspective for the better. Visage aside, I sure hope I'm still playing up a storm 20-30 years from now. That guy is truly an icon and so is Trigger.
Members OldGuitarPlayer Posted December 9, 2007 Author Members Posted December 9, 2007 I saw Willie Nelson and his band in the late 80's. I was about 8 rows back from the stage. It was one of the BEST shows I have ever seen in my life. (I've seen 100's). At the end of the concert Willie sat at the edge of the stage and signed autographs...what a man. A true music legend along with Hank Sr. and Johnny Cash:thu:
Members Samilyn Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 Being that close to Willie.....how cool can it get!?!?!? Lucky you!
Members Stackabones Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 I was escorted (thrown) out of a Willie concert at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth! Yeee-haawww!!! Years ago.

Members Samilyn Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 I was escorted (thrown) out of a Willie concert at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth! Yeee-haawww!!!Years ago. LOL. And just how, pray tell, did you manage that less-than-admirable feat?
Members Stackabones Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 LOL. And just how, pray tell, did you manage that less-than-admirable feat? Well, let's see ... if I can recall correctly ... I was just having some fun and the management somehow determined that it wasn't the kind of fun that was allowed in Billy Bob's. Go figure. They should post the rules, ya know? The bouncer was very gentlemanly about the whole situation. Class joint. No hard feelings. Since my hair is different now and I'd have to wear glasses (perhaps grow a moustache), I think I could get back in without causing too much of a fuss.

Members totamus Posted December 9, 2007 Members Posted December 9, 2007 That would definitely put Stack on the list of people Id go out drinking with. I was kicked out of a FW bar in the mid 70s - for ordering a Coors. Laughs they told me the only beer was Lone Star, and in Long Necks at that. Damn near got ugly. I was an Okie at the time, partying in Dallas/FW for the weekend (Sooners vs horns) I am a long time fan of Willie and of ZZ Top. But I gotta say, ZZ, Willie and a horn section just aint right. Like Ketchup and peanut butter. Just shouldnt happen.

Risking flame from the Texas crowd here (they tend to take Lone Star and Giant Armadillos rather seriously) but I don't like Lone Star, either. I was an Okie at the time, partying in Dallas/FW for the weekend (Sooners vs horns) No small wonder you wanted a Coors. All ya could get in OK was 3.2 beer. After we moved to the west coast, when Okie relatives would visit, they'd bring along cases of 3.2 beer (we're talking pick-up truckloads here) and trade us can-for-can for tan-can Coors. We thought the "Okie Water", as we called it, was cool because we could drink so much more of it before getting plastered. I am a long time fan of Willie and of ZZ Top. But I gotta say, ZZ, Willie and a horn section just aint right. Like Ketchup and peanut butter. Just shouldnt happen. Yup.
Members EvilTwin Posted December 10, 2007 Members Posted December 10, 2007 Ah, Trigger. You go to a Willie concert to see a battered, scarred, beat up old war horse. And Willie, too, of course.
