Members T Dunn Posted December 14, 2007 Members Posted December 14, 2007 Ibanez Exotic Woods series. Great electronics. Okay acoustic sound. Nice playability. Several different wood tops, but I like this one at $379-
Members moctzal Posted December 14, 2007 Members Posted December 14, 2007 Yamaha's FG, Seagull and Ibanez Artwoods.I personally find the Exotic Woods to be lacking acoustically.

Members 0rbitz9 Posted December 14, 2007 Members Posted December 14, 2007 Cort makes very high quality guitars for very reasonable prices. I've had good luck with this dealer.http://cgi.ebay.com/CORT-JUMBO-ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-CJ5X-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ320194366145QQihZ011QQcategoryZ47064QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

I got ripped off cuz I spent more then that. Hope my wife doesn't see this thread. She got pissed at me for buying it in the first place. The oven I was suppose to get instead...well.... priorities....
Members kwakatak Posted December 15, 2007 Members Posted December 15, 2007 Yamaha's FG, Seagull and Ibanez Artwoods.I personally find the Exotic Woods to be lacking acoustically. Judging by the flamed maple top (which I can only presume is not solid) I gather that they're meant to be plugged in to cut through the mix in a predominantly electric ensemble and also visually draw the audience's attention to the stage. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I just see it as being an instrument marketed for a certain situation. OTOH, if it's quiet acoustically it could also make a decent late night at-home player's guitar too. Back on-topic though, I suppose I'd check out Waldens. Funny nobody mentioned Takamine G series or Alvarez Regent series though.
Members T Dunn Posted December 15, 2007 Members Posted December 15, 2007 Well, I own an Alvarez Regent, and while I love the guitar's feel, it is a bit less 'musical' than others out there in the same price range (more than likely from the laminates). Actually, my fav in my collection is a Schecter Diamond cedar/mahogany dread that has an incredible sound. I paid about $130 for it off eBay.

I own the Walden D550 Natura Dread. It is not electric, but the D555CE is the same guitar cutaway and electric. The guitar is very satisfactory in every department. If you can find a dealer near you that sells them, they are a must try. I could not believe how similar they felt to Taylor acoustics.
