Members happy-man Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 My wife and I were in GC to check out a drum pedal for my son (Christmas present). Of course I had to sneak over to the acoustic room before we left. I played a Taylor DN4 which I really liked. I had never played any in the DN series. As my wife sat there a sales guy put a Masterbuilt in her hands. She doesn't play. I showed her how to strum. She really had her eye on the Deering banjo. She has wanted to play banjo since she was a kid. Scott O
Members Samilyn Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 Sounds like fun. Sounds like you just might be buying a banjo soon?
Members moctzal Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 Epiphone makes Masterbilt Banjos! Goodtime Banjos are a great place to start with a banjo if you don't want to shell out the cash for a Deering just yet.Goodtime is made by Deering as a sort of "affordable" line of banjo.
Members Stackabones Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 Banjo? Scruggs-style or frailing?
Members OldGuitarPlayer Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 Did you here the one about the banjo player who left his banjo in the back seat of his vehicle while it was parked and unlocked? When he was done his business he rushed back to his car because he remembered he had left it unlocked. When he got back to his vehicle there was not just one banjo on the back seat but two!!

Members moctzal Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 What's the difference between a harmonica and a banjo? A harmonica only sucks on half the notes...
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 What's the definition of "perfect pitch"? Throwing an accordion into a dumpster and smashing a banjo! ******************************** If two banjo-players get a divorce, are they still cousins?
Members Freeman Keller Posted December 18, 2007 Members Posted December 18, 2007 What is the difference between a banjo and a trampoline? You take your shoes off before jumping on a trampoline. Scott, what are you going to call your new family band? Guitar, banjo and drum - we'll be posting your music at the Annex

Guitar, banjo and drum - we'll be posting your music at the Annex Also have a 16yr old daughter on guitar. My 7 yr old daughter took violin lessons for a short time before a vacation stopped them. I have a bass sitting around hoping someone will pick up (the 16yr old says she noodles with it some). Wife and three others took piano lessons for a few years, but none of them have kept with it. Drummer 14yr old son also plays with my ukulele. If I do get a banjo for my wife I'd like to get a Deering Goodtime. We both like it. Sad thing is we never play together. I've thought a good name for a band would be "Hippies use side door"

Members DeepEnd Posted December 19, 2007 Members Posted December 19, 2007 Heard these on A Prairie Home Companion: What do you call a banjo player in a suit? The defendant. Why do banjo tunes have titles? So you can tell them apart.
Members Glenn F Posted December 19, 2007 Members Posted December 19, 2007 If that picture gives me nightmares, you're in trouble!!!! :poke: If two banjo-players get a divorce, are they still cousins?
Members Freeman Keller Posted December 19, 2007 Members Posted December 19, 2007 You can tell the stage is level if the banjo player drools out of both sides of his mouth. I'll stop. I have a friend who plays banjo. He is a nice person in spite of that.
