EDIT - "God damnit I was typing Yaegermeister or however the {censored} you spell it when I was typing this Thread Title in a different window and it ended up here, sorry/{censored}."

I found this guitar in my dad's collection of older used instruments. He bought it in 1974 from a street vendor while he was studying in Santa Cruz. He hasn't touched it since, it has remained stringless ever since he bought it and most likely before it was sold. I know from the inside that it is a Hilo model 620 serial 8084. Hilo is made by Oscar Schmidt.

{censored}! you have a potty mouth:thu:

Just kidding...I like the neck, looks like a reinforced truss member. Also lookes fretless but has fret markings. I'd get it appraised then set it up, put on a pair of short, and bang away...

better yet, set it up and head to Hawaii, then bang away:wave:

It is a Weissenborn style lap guitar - very cool instrument. Played like a Dobro flat on your lap with a steel bar (Shubb, Steven, etc) - usually in open D, open G or "dobro G". Our FingerboneBill is a great Weissenborn style player - I'll try to find some links for you if you are interested.

To be honest, I'm really looking to sell it. My family is going through a rough time, my mom is terminally ill and the bills are adding up. Selling this would take a load off my dad's back (if it is worth anything). From what I've read, they were sold around 1920-1935 ish, under Oscar Schmidt. I saw a completed auction for a 620 that went for around $1300. I figured since this hasn't even been strung in at least 30 years and is in great condition (aside from the pickguard coming off), it might be worth around the same if not a bit more.
