Help IDing a Gibson from the late 60s-70s?

A friend of mine sent me these pictures of a Gibson and asked if I knew anything about it. Didn't look at all familiar to me so I thought I'd ask you guys. She says that it was purchased by her dad in the late 60s or the 70s. Doesn't know if it was bought new.

When I first saw the pictures I thought it looked like a Nighthawk almost but I know that's not right. I can almost make out the truss rod cover, might possibly read "Custom L-5"? The serial number is 173462, which I believe would put it in the mid to late 60s, right?

My apologies for the abysmal cell-phone quality of the pictures.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Use this link and input the info on the guitar into the Vintage Panel fields.

If the number is stamped on the peg head with NO MADE IN USA stamped below, probably '69 or earlier.

If the number is stamped on the peg head and HAS MADE IN USA stamped below, '69-'75.

If the serial number is decaled with MADE IN USA stamped below probably '75-'77.

Obviously there could also be discrepancies, and particularly during the cusp years.

This is a pretty good source.

You are correct in the model. I figure a '73.
