Well it is decided, it will be a Larrivee for me!!!

But I know i am a pain in the @## but again I seek your advice, I do really appreciate all that you have shared on my first quest in my search for a good acoustic for my pleasures.

As I stated, local Larrivee dealer does not offer much for choices or comparisons for my inexperienced hands to check out.

I know I want an L-03 or an OM-3 (of course I also know I want or have to figure wich wood) But as I can only get hands on with a L or D, they do not stock OM's, how do I decide which would be the better choice for me to learn upon???? I have studied, pictures, reviews, read forum comments on both, they are both generally praised.....The sound clips and videos I have seen, I like the sounds of both but of course can not buy both (for now)

So would one be more friendly to learn on? Can you share your thoughts which way to go and why?

Thanks again

Tim

I played an OM-3R recently that was just amazing. Very comfortble and easy to play.
The L-03 and D-03 stuff is also fabulous.

The D-03 is 1 11/16" at the nut, while the other two are 1 3/4" at the nut. If you have larger hands you may prefer the 1 3/4" spacing. Most fingerpicking players prefer that 1 3/4" spacing. The nut width would not deter me either way.

The L-03R will have more bass response than the OM-3R.

It is a matter of personal preference.

Frankly, I don't think that you can make a wrong choice with a Larrivee.

Cheers!

I know i am a pain in the ...

Not at all, you are asking good questions to help you make a good decision. Much better than the daily "what's the best guitar for $xxx.xx" threads." I agree with Harmonycat, any Larrivee would be a great choice.

You said your local store stocks the D and L bodies, have you played them? The neck on the OM should be about the same as on the L (same nut width and profile) but the smaller body will "sit" differently. Maybe you should compare with another brand of OM size if you store has one to get a feel for the body size. I tried both (and many others) before deciding on the L body for me. My L sounds great with light finger-picking but will hold up to some pretty aggressive strumming. I also liked the additional bass from the L-body.

As far as body woods, I was sure I wanted Rosewood back and sides, no cutaway, and no pickup until I played this LV-05E. It had that "something" I kept coming back to play it until one day it followed me home. My advice, keep an open mind and play everything you can until one "speaks" to you.
