I have a cracked barrel that holds the E string in the Machine head.

Is it fairly easy job to fix and are the barrels readily available?

Thanks Frank

Replacing the whole thing is fastest and easiest. Also fairly cheap unless you're looking at high-end or "specialty" tuners. You can get a full set of replacements at StewMac.

A couple of years ago I got a 40-year-old, well-played-in CG and the tuners were stiff and creaky.

I thought it might have been the worn gears or the cracked rollers. Turns out all was well after lubricating the roller holes in the headstock with some candle wax.

Moral of this story is.....the cracked rollers worked fine!
