Members streetknight Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 At least I think so. I love this guy's videos. He's spot on every time.Sorry if someone's already posted this. But for those that haven't seen it, enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvbBaj4hb8w
Members MattSkibaIsGOD Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 that fretkillr is a monster player and great singer too. His version of the Lakes of Pontchartrain is pehonomenal.
Members drnihili Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 Yeah, he's superb. I wonder who he is.
Members jd-drafter Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 everyone wonders- it's sort of a minor cult thing. is he really a famous musician, or just a regular guy- people are constantly asking him who he is- and offering him deals and appearances if he would only reveal himself- its like the unknown comic- 8^)
Members T.B. Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 Wow. As many of you know Feb issue of Acoustic Guitar mag has Jim Croce music and words to "Time In A Bottle." Trina
Members missedmyexit Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 I just lost like 2 hours to his videos and haven't been through half. There's been alot of talk on the forum lately of NGD and GAS, but it's these gems I really enjoy from this forum. Finding little know or well known but not by me, musicians. Before this forum I didn't know TE, deltabluesguy, this video and many many others. Check out his "Noodlin' Take I" it's amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kvcmf5lFng
Members Dave W. Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 I stumbled on him a few days ago, was going to ask around here if anybody knew anything about him. The guy can flat out pick, and has an amazing voice. My bet is he has to be a pro, but damned if I can place his voice, it is pretty distinctive and very well recorded. It really gets me when someone can play that well and sing too, and not just sing ok either, but really solid with good range. No dropping off of the high notes. Kind of Vince Gill talent. I love this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30fcDZwnpaI
Members OldGuitarPlayer Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 Oh yes...I have been a fan of FretKiller for awhile. He truly is a very talented player and singer. Yes, everyone wonders who he is and that's what makes it special.
Members Dave W. Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 This one's not bad either http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT2wvktF-9w
Members streetknight Posted January 8, 2008 Author Members Posted January 8, 2008 I'm glad to see so many of you were already familiar with his work. I spent a whole evening once too just going thru some of the other videos. He's probably the best solo act I've seen on youtube. Glad you enjoyed.
Members Dave W. Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 I am going to download his stuff and save it to my hard drive. I would be a shame to loose all of those videos if he were to pull them. Stranger things have happened. Am I the only one to loose hours to YouTube? You get on one video, and follow the similar link to another, and boom, the afternoon is gone. Cool. I love just typing in any old chestnut that comes into my head, and more time than not, there is some video from thirty years ago. What a resource. I noticed that Stefan Grossman has a bunch of clips from his lessons up there as advertising. Good idea.
Members jd-drafter Posted January 8, 2008 Members Posted January 8, 2008 actually i have a theory.... Fret Killr is really Freeman Keller 8^) i mean think about it... on the board he is amazingly helpful and is a great well of knowledge... yet downplays his playing ability... hmmmmm. while fret killr displays a great ability to play and nothing else... polar opposites so to speak. dopplegangers perhaps?
Members streetknight Posted January 8, 2008 Author Members Posted January 8, 2008 How do you insert the youtube link like you did it.
Members daklander Posted January 9, 2008 Members Posted January 9, 2008 How do you insert the youtube link like you did it. You can't, from Fretkillr's vids. They will show but not play. He has embed disabled. He's also a very clean fast picker with a 12 string.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qgi9BUqzpZg
Members daklander Posted January 9, 2008 Members Posted January 9, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if Tom Ball wasn't doing the vocals with Kenny Sultan doing the picking.Of course he may be doing the whole shebang cause he can play the guitar too.
Members Berkleo Posted January 9, 2008 Members Posted January 9, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if Tom Ball wasn't doing the vocals with Kenny Sultan doing the picking.Of course he may be doing the whole shebang cause he can play the guitar too. Now that you mention it, hey he really does sound like Tom Ball. I don't think he sounds anything like Kenny though.....
