I just took a quick look (like what I see), & have added it to my favorites as well.

Well done, I have not finish going through all the different sections.

I will give you more feed back once I have tried some of the lessons.

So what does one do to become banned?

The OP posted what appeared to be spam. It has the usual red flags ... low number of posts, come look at our site, etc. Since I didn't click on it, I don't know if there was something viral about it or what.

I did go to the site - full of good guitar videos. I trust my kaspersky virus software to keep me safe, but it didnt detect anything.

I agree it was a spam posting though. As it happens the site is decent and I added to my favorites. They have nice split screen shots of about 40 songs.

All but three of his sixteen posts were exactly the same as the post above. If he had been participating in the forums other than to drive up his hit count (presumably to attract advertisers), the outcome might have been different.

I didn't find any popups, adware, etc. on his site.

Too bad, but understandable. If you don't deal with these, soon the board will be full of junk.

You can learn to play the guitar totally free with spytunes?

And, also the book is

I got banned for spam... I can assure you there is no spyware on the site. I used to be very active in the harmpny-central forum about 6-7 years ago, this site actually was a big inspiration to starting spytunes.

After 9 months of creating the site I'm flat broke and can't afford advertisment so I thought posting in "my" old forum could do the trick but I got banned! I can't believe it.

Here's a link to my guitar conspiracy theory

(there's definately no spyware or anything similar to that)

Just try not to get yourself banned again.

grab a couple likely looking threads and participate. If you're just here to hype your site, I'm afraid you won't last long, no matter how good it might be.

You'll probably get banned again for trying to use these forums for advertising. That just doesn't fly well around here. I think it's in the guidelines as a bannable offence.

One states ...

HC is for private, non-commercial use. Spamming of members, collecting email addresses for soliciting business, and similar activities are prohibited.

And furthermore ...

Non Commercial Use by Members. The Website is for the personal use of individual Members only and may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except as noted in section (5f) below. Organizations, companies, and/or businesses may not become Members without written permission from Harmony Central or its agents, although individuals within organizations, companies, and/or businesses are encouraged to become members. Illegal and/or unauthorized uses of the Website, including collecting usernames and/or email addresses of members by electronic or other means for the purpose of sending unsolicited email and unauthorized framing of or linking to the Website will be investigated, and appropriate legal action will be taken, including without limitation, civil, criminal, and injunctive redress.

Rule (5f) ...

Except as permitted in areas designated by HC or its agents (such as mentions of gear for sale in member signatures, or designated "Spam" threads within forums), you may not engage in advertising to, or solicitation of, other Members to buy or sell any products or services through the Service. You may not transmit any chain letters or junk email to other Members. Although HC cannot monitor the conduct of its Members off the Website, it is also a violation of these rules to use any information obtained from the Service in order to harass, abuse, or harm another person, or in order to contact, advertise to, solicit, or sell to any Member without their prior explicit consent. In order to protect our Members from such advertising or solicitation, HC reserves the right to restrict the number of emails which a Member may send to other Members in any 24-hour period to a number which HC deems appropriate in its sole discretion.

It's all right here.

You may quibble with it, but your posts do look a lot like spam.

I love Dan's site - I was just watching his video on the "self eliminating practice routine, and it is the best presentation of music theory, as specifically tailored to a guitar, that I have ever seen.

Great site. Great presentation, but I will second drnihili, you have to do more than just hype a site or you dont last long. Dan has great knowledge and would be a great contributor. Dan, if you read this, you should get ahold of freeman and see if he will do a link on the "Unofficial HCAG Annex".

Seriously, check out the site, it is worth the time...

That's a great idea! Always love to have new member, but we have to be on the lookout for spammers. No offence, Dan. We just gotta follow the guidelines and keep up appearances. ;)

I don't consider useful websites to be spam. Danelectric (spytunes) put together the best free guitar instructional website I ever seen.

Good job and thanks! :thu:

It is a great site. I hope everyone takes a look, BUT Harmony Central is a very desirable target for spammers. They sign up and make as many posts as possible advertising their site, their products, their whatever. A board can be ruined by this. Danelectric/spytunes engaged in activity that made him look like a spammer.

Turns out his particular product is desirable, but his actions were not. The two suggestions of putting the link in his sig and requesting a link in the Annex are good ideas. I am glad our able team of moderators are on the watch...

Someone reported him, otherwise our able team of moderators would have missed it. Sure he had a low post count, but he was a member here for more than a year.
