Hey guys i need help deciding on this two guitars. Could you give me your tips to help me decide. The larrivee has a rosewood body and the gibson has a maple body. I play strumming and finger style, i would like the one that has the best tone and quality overall.

Let me know which are the best larrivee dealers too, regards and thanks for the help.

Learn all about Larry's here:

People seem to really like them. I have only played 1 (a lower end one) and was not all that impressed. I am a Taylor guy I guess but I like any good guitar (Taylor, Martin, Gibson, Larivee, Seagull, etc). I have even played some low cost Yamaha's that I liked, esp for the money. Don't recall ever playing a Fender acoustic that I liked LOL. There are a lot of good guitars out there these days.

I owned a Gibson J-180ec. It was a nice jumbo guitar. In my opinion, it was better suited for strumming and flatpicking. I sold it because I could never bound with it.

I owned a Larrivee L-03 (mahogany). It was great for strumming and fingerstyle.

Until recently, I owned 2 Larrivee guitars - an OM-03 and a D03-RE....I love the little orchestra model, but the dreadnaught always sounded like it had a towel in it....it was a great playing guitar and had a wonderful sound when plugged in, but really lacked presence and volume when played acoustically...I would urge you to judge the sound of each guitar as played acoustically....that's probably the way you'll most often use it....an amplified sound can always be manipulated and improved, but the guitar's "actual" sound is something a bit more permanent.....if I had to guess, I'd say the sound of a Gibson will win out.....
