For all you fans of one of the greatest voices that ever was.......

Keep your eyeballs peeled on the "discount" rack at Wal-Mart. I got a great Patsy Cline CD yesterday for $8.

Simply titled: The Definitive Collection - Patsy Cline

Contains 22 remastered tracks, including "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Crazy."

Thanks for the heads up. Discount rack is an insult. Got an 80 gig I pod for Christmas and I am in the process of building an mp3 library. Even got a turntable setup put together to convert some of my old lp's. Will have to pick that up. Much better to have the cd than to download mp3's. Off to wallyworld.

Thank you!

I was a impressed with some of her work, and then I saw "Sweet Dreams", many years ago. Bought the CD right away!

I became a huge Patsy Cline fan...

Nobody sings that "Tear Jerkin' Stuff" better than her!!!:thu:

+1000

And her more upbeat stuff, well, I just can't sit still when I hear it. Was listening to her while cooking supper last night and I was dancing in front of the stove. :D

I have a 'Pasty Cline 12 Greatest Hits' CD, but I'll have to check this out. I don't have a lot of country music in my collection, but I've always love Patsy Cline singing/voice. Ms. Cline is among the very few singers who could as the say, "Read the names out of a telephone book and make you cry or smile."

I'll look out for it. It will probably arrive in ASDA (our version of Wal-Mart) in 6 months or so and cost $10 (equivalent)

If you can't find it in the UK, holler back at me. I got the last one at our Wal-Mart, but I'll look for it at another W-M and send it to you.

I have that one downloaded from Napster To Go.

She has, without a doubt, my all-time favorite female voice. I have never heard someone with such an unbelievable ability to evoke emotion (often heartache) in a song.

My wife and I were talking about her the other day and concluded that she might not even make it in today's country/pop scene, given the marketing emphasis on the visual. Take a look at the big stars, they are all tarted up like Victoria's Secret models. When was the last time K.D. Lang had a hit?

So true and so sad.

I have a double CD set, "At Her Best", that is quite amazing as well.

I think my favorites are "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down".

Good point.

Just as a side note...The thing about K.D. Lang is that she was lucky enough to be one of a handful of human beings to ever share a songwriting credit with Mick Jagger and Keef Richards. At one time in the 90's the Rolling Stones had a song on one of their albums that had an uncanny musical resemblance to her song "Constant Craving". Instead of waiting to get sued they put her name on the song credits. So...since the Rolling Stones have a billion or so fans all buying their CD's...the monthly royalty cheques just flow in for Ms. Lang. Kind of like hitting the musical lottery...:freak:

Oh man! I did not need to read that!!! I think I"m the only black person I know who likes her!!!
:)

And what's color got to do with it? She's got one fantastic voice. She has the whole range which is rare.

Patsy's voice and scope of her talent transcends race and cultural backgrounds.

Anyone of any race or creed that loves music cannot fail to recognize the exquisite beauty of her voice, right up there with Ella, Billie, and others whose music is timeless.

The only time I ever associated color with music was in college, about an hour after a friend said to me, "Here, take this...".

LMAO.

I often wonder how I managed to survive the "good old bad old days." That's probably why I feel like I'm older than dirt.

FLIPFLOP: Nothing really but when I put her on in my car, my freinds are like...??wha?? who the heck???
:)
Its funny:)

The next time they say this ask them 2 questions:

1) Do you know who Charlie Pride is?

2) Let me hear you sing as well as Patsy or Charlie and I'll take the CD out.

I'm willing to bet the jeers will end....quickly.

My older friends know who she is....vaguely. But the folks my age absolutely no clue. And no they don't know who Charley Pride is either...but then I grew up in a household where, Sam Cooke, Elvis, Toussaint Mccall,Frank Sinatra were liberally played along with Mahalia Jackson, etc....

Sammy,

Got my cd at wallyworld last night. Already riped it onto my ipod. Thank for the heads up.

Humble moment: spent 5 minutes looking through the alphabetical listings for Patsy Kline, none to be found naturally. The 70's must be catching up with me.

So glad you found one! I know WallyWorld can be inconsistent in merchandise from store to store.

Re: "humble moment"...LOL I've done that too. "Senior Moments" (a/k/a brain farts) are not uncommon at my age. :freak:
