Members OldGuitarPlayer Posted January 22, 2008 Members Posted January 22, 2008 Well...it's kind of hard to judge from the sound of a video camera mic but it sounds like an acoustic guitar with a pickup (or microphone) being played through a PA system. From a real "tone" standpoint....I have no idea....Now...that being said it did sound good...nice and clear good sound with the vocals...it was in tune and I could here all the strings. From what I could hear it seemed to have good tonal balance.I enjoyed the song too. OGP
Members flip333 Posted January 22, 2008 Members Posted January 22, 2008 Hi, From the video that was recorded, it sounds decent. Some video recordings can make a guitar sound horrible. Also, the pickup and miking used will completely change an unplugged tone into about whatever you want. I did a blind test on my four acoustics where I had my son play them all. Fingerstyle and strumming. I was shocked how similar my favorites were to my worst guitar.

Members The Chosen Few Posted January 23, 2008 Members Posted January 23, 2008 Well the tone sounded okay, not great, but that could be a list of thing's that has nothing to do with the guitar. Everything rang out pretty good and I didn't get a cheap hollow sound from it like low end guitars sound. Think you will also do better as you play it more, sounded like you were strumming it pretty hard. Sounded good though ! Can I ask you one question about the Breedlove ? I heard they have nice fast necks, with low profile. Can you tell me your opinion on the over all craftsmenship ? I heard they are great guitars and looking to get a master class series made. I just wanted to know your opinions on the company for I am not aware of to many who have owned a Breedlove Keep on rockin
Members Samilyn Posted January 23, 2008 Members Posted January 23, 2008 Pretty much what he said. Pretty much what they said. I would guess that the git has very nice tone, but it's hard to really tell from the sound of the vid.
Members chrisman926 Posted January 23, 2008 Author Members Posted January 23, 2008 sorry about the picture, he was just my favorite wrestler a long time ago... plus you need something like that over in the amp forum where i usually hang out, thanks for the opinions guys. i know most ofyou are probably not into acoustic/electrics, my uncle is a martin tech and he hated my breedlove, but he hates every guitar that isn't a martin. again, sorry for the middle finger and thanks for the help.

It takes character to say that. Apology accepted and much appreciated. I play a Martin and love it, but I'm not as uptight about it as your uncle. Breedlove is generally a real nice git and I wish I could have heard yours better.

Members rjoxyz Posted January 23, 2008 Members Posted January 23, 2008 ...plus you need something like that over in the amp forum where i usually hang out,.I lurked there when I was researching a Vox amp I ended up getting. You're right. I was thinking about a pit bull, or maybe a prison rape scene avatar, but just decided to come back here.
Members daklander Posted January 23, 2008 Members Posted January 23, 2008 OK, since you've come in with an explanation I can live with....Welcome to a better place.Lots of us are electrified acoustic when recording. As to the tone, it sounds like it was recorded via the video recorder mic. I'm guessing it sounded better than that in the actual environment. but it was acceptable for that. I've heard lots worse, even off the board. If you have any control over the next taping I'd suggest, if you can't come off the board for signal to add to the video I would use a couple of mics and record the FOH loudspeakers and sync that to the video. It'll sound a lot better.Overall though, as I said, acceptable and certainly not something to cry about.
Members Scott Fonseca Posted January 23, 2008 Members Posted January 23, 2008 The tone sounded all right, but as others have said, it's hard to tell. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it!
Members simplygoodmusic Posted January 23, 2008 Members Posted January 23, 2008 Its a good tone for what it is, assuming that youtube plus the low quality mic are making it a little on the bad side. For strumming alongside a singer, its a nice sounding git. I wouldn't do anything more than simple chord work on that kind of sound, but thats just me. I wouldn't be suprised if a martin lover hated it...martins go for that old traditional tone. To put it in electric terms, it would be like giving an ibanez JEM to a telecaster lover.
