Members LastCallKillIt
I was considering upgrading my Ibanez acoustic to a TUSQ saddle, and TUSQ bridge pins, but upon doin research I found out it already has a Ivorex II nut, saddle and Advantaqe bridge pins. My question is is TUSQ actually any better than Ivorex II or will I be wasting my money and same question for the bridge pins, I was also considering brass bridge pins also. Members babablowfish
I am pretty sure that they are the same thing. You will see much bigger differences (not necessarily improvements, but rather differences) with brass, ebony, plastic and bone. Check out Freeman's pin test on the Annex. Members DeepEnd
I'm an Ibanez owner (AW120) and AFAIK they'er similar but not identical. I think Ivorex is slightly softer. This is based on the fact that my original saddle had grooves in it from the strings. I've since replaced the saddle with another Ivorex one. I wouldn't bother replacing the nut or saddle, although a set of brass pins wouldn't hurt. Bear in mind that at least some Ibanez models (like mine) have oversize bridge pins so you'll need to make sure the new ones fit.
