Members maximuskatana
Why is it that my guitar (alvarez RD20S) doesnt have strap buttons? Also, Is there any way to install them without drilling into the wood?
Members Cripes
Unusual that the guitar doesn't have strap buttons. There's no hole in the tail block at all? Usually there is and some makers ship the guitars with the tail block button removed to prevent shipping damage. I tie one end of the strap to the headstock. Some makers place an additional button on the heel of the neck while other don't. Yes, you have to drill a hole in your guitar to install the button. Members maximuskatana
Theres and endpin button yes, but no second one for a strap, so is that what I do just tie it to the headstock?

Members bali
Welcome to the world of acoustic guitars. I can't believe the manufacturers still only install the tail button!!! I would rather drill a hole in the heel than tie onto the peghead, too much unnecessary strain on the neck.
Members kimona
Check-out strap buttons on other guitars at the local music shop. Then, decide what would work best for you.
Members babablowfish
Here is a link for a quick-release strap gizmo. They work great and I have them on all of my guitars. Don't worry about the neck - it will be fine. http://planetwaves.com/pgeardetails.aspx?ID=

Members guitarist21
I would rather drill a hole in the heel than tie onto the peghead, too much unnecessary strain on the neck. As I understand it, the strain on the neck is negligible. Of course, if you're more comfortable drilling a hole into the heel, by all means go ahead with it. But I've had straps tied onto my headstocks for years with no problem. Ellen

I prefer having a strap button though I'm tall and the guitar sits to high tied to the neck.

Members Samilyn
I don't like drilling holes in my gits, either. Here is what I use. It wraps around the headstock and you fasten your strap to it. http://www.elderly.com/accessories/names/martin-acoustic-strap-hook--MASH-BK.htm
