Here's a better entry, better being a very relative word. It's not better than anybody in terms of skill, it's just better to listen to than my other post. I'm not playing the guitar. I had been out of town for a week, an hadn't played an instrument since I left. The first time at the piano rendered this:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1022550&songID=9120991

Note all the flubs, the rhythmic bang bang bang of me hammering the chords like a chain gang building a railroad. But mostly, enjoy the out takes: flubs, missed keys, lots of swearing by me (if bad language offends you, please don't listen,) and the piece de resistance, getting a call from my mother in the middle, and my taking the call!

Sorry I am late to the party folks ..

We're caught up on the archive site to this point.

I can't express how relieved I am that we are on the legacy forum again. Last month was a total disaster from the archive perspective.

I need to apologize for that session email that I am sure confused many of you as to where to go for the current session. I changed it last month because of version 2.0 and forgot I had done that then neglected to change it back.

Also, I had begun to convert the streaming player to be compatible for 2.0, never suspecting we would be back on 1.0 this month, so it's status is in gaga land at the moment. I will try and get it converted back to this version so we can enjoy it again as soon as I can.

I tell you, I don't know which way to jump with the Archive site programming. Obviously I jumped the gun trying to convert before we were sure where we were going to be. For now, I am going to refocus on 1.0. That may be a fool's play given the uncertainty of the forum status. But it's impossible to program for the unknown. :idk:

Guess we'll just roll with the punches and see where we end up landing.

Stackabones Loved leave this room. Great harmonies on the vox, and loved all of the blues fills.

Diceman1000 Great original, strong vocals

g6120 Great cover, I love anything by Tom Waites

Sangeman Great cover, love this song. Guitar sounds great, good vocals too.

Hypocollector Love this song man. Great vocals, great song perfect day for it.

Guitarist2 First time that I have heard you, I am a big fan. This is a great song. Strong vocals, great lyrics, great guitar playing. The style reminds me of the Weepies. Have you listened to them. Very catching tune. Nice work!

OLDSkool TX Great recording, very tight. I always look forward to your recordings. So polished. Really loved the back up vocals on this one.

Masterbuilt Really great sound from a video recorder. Liked the song.

Aiight. I am not quite finished mixing this, but I said I'd get it out there, so here' tis;

Goodbye: copyright, Freeglerock Music, 1983, 2010. All rights reserved.

Ok, I wrote this when I was 22, after a traumatic breakup with a woman. The lyric is a little overwrought, but, it is what it is. I chose to revisit it because it is simple, and would help ease me back into multi-tracking. I don't think I got anything on the first take, unfortunately, though, for the most part, I didn't need to do takes ad nauseum.

I am playing everything, for better or for worse:

Martin 000-M:

Epiphone Casino;

MIM Telecaster.

Yamaha bass;

Lead and harmony vox;

Programming of Addictive Drums;

Recorded in Logic Pro, April, 2010.

Thanks for listening!

Cheers,

Glenn

Hope I dont leave anyone out....

First let me say that I'm in awe of eveyone here, esp the writers, cause I've never written anything worthwhile in my 30+ yrs of guitar playing.

Tbryson-nice road song, especially like the chorus.

BlackHatHunter-You have an appealing voice. Good cover of one of Neil's best.

garthman-Unique and cool guitar tone! Excellent song that suits your voice.

rhancox-Thats a big 10-4 buddy! Love me some J. Browne, great cover!

Fendouglas-Awesomely clever. I want to hear you in a pub!

chriscarnucci-Pretty tune and good lyrics too.

Fussenkuh-Good chops, clean playing w/good timing too. Now sing next time!

Michael Martin-Excellent writing and playing.

Stackabones-Dude can write, and groove while doin it!

Diceman1000-Did someone say this guy hasnt been playing long? Im feeling sick. Ive been playing for longer than I can remember and never wrote anything, and this guy pull a hit out of his hat. This song seriously needs to get recorded by a big name and get you some residuals. You got some true talent.

g6120-Seriously good cover. Voice, feeling, even the video ambience was excellent!

Frets 99- Always delivers in spades. Id move to Mass. if I could hang out with Frets!

bluedog-As good as anything out there. Excellent writing and production.

Sagemon-Enjoyed it. I like Steve Earle.

hypercollector-Really hit my mood spot on today. Spent the afternoon with my mom in nursing home. Nothing I can give her except my love.

guitarist21-you can stalk and flatpic me anyday, Love it, Im your newest fan.

RKO-Love me some Buffett.

LiFeStArts@40-If your a hack, your a darn good one!

TSMusic-cool playing and composition. You got you own kinda Gypsy-Celt thing goin on.

OldSchoolTexas-Great song. Very pro sounding.

phoniclab-One of my fav Allmans songs, keep it up!

Masterbuilt-Good song, good sound, great singing.

mrmoe-more damn good songwriting!

Genn F-You rock! Since this is also an original , you rock +100.

WOW!!! thanks man, i'm flattered... i've got probably 30 different songs that need finished and polished. i've been playing for just about 2 years and i'm self taught so far. i've got another thread in the acoustic section with the song i posted here and my other latest original, i've got three more originals on my you tube channel plus a few covers. and, i've got another original and a collaboration between myself and fellow forumite Elias Graves on my sound click page... the ones on my soundclick page are pretty rough, as they al are... check 'em out and let me know what you think.... links...

Dice, you and I would argue politics, but you have one hell of a lot of talent. Just 2 years? Damn! Burning Bridges is a GREAT song!

Here's another renaissance piece: this one a pavan by Luis Milan (16th Century Spanish guy). I started learning it a couple weeks ago, figuring it didn't look too hard - but I'm still struggling with it. It's deceptively difficult, at least for a guy like me. I'm still not happy with my tone, and it really shows on a tune like this. There are some other vids of better players doing it on youtube and they have a really cool feel to them, one I'm still working on figuring out for myself. But anyway, here's my quick take on it for mother's day:

This is an original called "Things" - wrote this one just a few weeks ago, actually.

5XM5Voe4etE

Lyrics:

I can be bought

Persuaded and sold

With fancy pictures and marketing you can steal my soul

Greed is my god

Jealousy my lord

There is always bigger, always better, always more

My society

Wow, what a great turnout everyone! I haven't been able to listen due to the same constraints that kept me from sitting in front of a microphone yet another month but I'm amazed at the number of originals submitted. You all are very inspiring.

Ohioarrow, when's the player gonna be ready? How hard would it be to DL all these and make an iTunes playlist? I spend most of my time on the go lately and would like to give all these a fair listening to.

Well, by my clock it's almost closing time ... but you know what? If it's still Second Sunday where you live, keep posting. Even it's a bit past Second Sunday and Monday Morning is blinking its bright eyes in your face ...

post 'em if you got 'em!

The mic is still on if you need it ...

It's great to see that the HC 2.0 debacle last month doesn't appear to have had any long term effects on the VOM :) It looks like I'll have another collection of quality music to listen to over the next few days... that always makes work more enjoyable! I'd also like to take the opportunity to give a big thank you to everyone who checked out my submission this month with special thanks to tbryson, rhancox, RKO, chriscarnucci, diceman1000, BlackHatHunter, and Pine Apple Slim for the feedback! It's always greatly appreciated!

There's such an abundance of not only talented but also kind folks in this forum. I'm just happy to say that I'm a part of it :thu:
