Members NealP
I had a chance to see him that night at Alpine Valley, or see Bonnie Raitt and Jeff Healey at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee . I saw Bonnie, she was closer. Still hard to believe, c'mon, experienced helicopter pilot.. just the whole situation.
Members Chordchunker
Yep a bad deal all the way around. He had just gotten clean and was playing the best he ever had.. I saw him 3 times. The first time in 1983 right after his first album came out in Norfolk, VA.

Members DonK
Amazing player - in my top 5 most listened-to. I regret I never got to see him play live.
Members Glenn F
My feelings about his playing were/are mixed. I found him a little derivative, and knew personally a couple of players who could out-Hendrix him. As time has passed, and having had the chance to watch some videos of him playing, there is no doubt in my mind that he was a great player, though not necessarily a great innovator. I was just getting ready for the last year of my undergrad degree, and was on campus for some reason or other, when a friend told me what had happened. I was saddened. I knew he'd struggled with addiction, and had wrestled it to the ground. Like Hendrix, I do wish he'd lived long enough to fulfill his potential. Sometimes, life sucks.
