IOW, you can't back it up.

That's okay. I wouldn't have the time to call bull{censored} on every little detail of it anyway.

Are there any stats showing that violent crimes has been going up in the last 30 years?

(Not sure what this has to do with someone's decision to own a gun, but there you go.)

LOL, I didn't START anything but I do try and finish stuff when I can.
As far as what's best for stopping evil humans, depends on the human. There's a point where more power actually means less "stopping" power because the bullet tends to just zip right thru without doing much. You need a bit of dwell time for the bullet to transfer it's energy to the "target" if you know what I mean. 125gr .357Mag out of a 4" barrel works very well an so does the 135gr. 40S&W round. Of course all this means diddle squat if you can put the rounds where they'll do the most damage so something that's accurate and that you can shoot well comes first, ft lbs on target only count if they hit the target.

I own guns, but in 52 years on this planet, I have never even once felt the need to point one at another soul, nor have I ever wished I had one on me. You folks talking about "these times" are way off the mark -- crime rates have fallen rather drastically for most of the past 40-50 years, it's just the fact that we now have a 24-hour news cycle in which media are constantly looking for something to splash on our screens that makes folks think things are getting worse...

True, the FBI violent crime statistics show that violent acts are down in number, especially over the last thirty years. The violence, today, is often extreme due to shock value and callousness of individuals. There are still crimes of passion by gun owners, but it's the copy-cat shooters that get most of the press.

One more thing... the majority of violent crimes involving guns are drug/gang related.

I don't have a gun. None of my neighbours have guns. Our local policeman does not have a gun. When I am driving to work I'm comforted by the thought that the possibility of any of the other drivers around me possessing a gun is very remote and the similarly minute chance that a burgular might be carrying a firearm ensures that I sleep soundly at night.

Wasn't there a case in the UK where a burglar was actually shot by the homeowner who was in turn arrested for assault? I can't remember the particulars but it just goes to show how screwy the world has become.

There was indeed. The burglar was a unarmed teenage boy who ran away when the householder disturbed him. The householder shot him in the back with a shotgun as he was running down the garden.

The ^^ is right enough as every country i believe has some kind
of drugs/gangs feuds always drug related and serious killings always
occur with such and recently a Glasgow man in broad daylight
was shot dead
as he left an Asda (Wallmart store) in front of shoppers
and guns although not as near wide spread for sure as the USA
thankfully but are still somehow getting in the hands of the underworld
here with City's like Glasgow and some other citys in the UK
although a can only speak for Scotland in the UK
knife crime is worst in Glasgow in that now the police can stop
and search and scan anyone
especially young ones before they go into night clubs
as once drink is in then wits are out as they say

BUT why carry a knife in the 1st place i say
i here of killings now near every day many drug related
though more so drink related and the local authorities
have been on about raising the price of alcohol in Scottish stores
like Asda (Wallmart) etc
plus stopping the buy one get one free in pubs trying to curb
the younger drinkers but this never shall happen that is a fact

but they reckon doing such with raising price of alcohol
in Scottish stores would just make the motorways
heading from Scotland to Carlisle in England choke a block
as many Scots would head to the supermarketsto load up
for booze there and so this wouldnt work

But again WHY hit the majority of decent drinkers whom cause no-harm
it wouldnt be fair
Anyhow thankfully all this isnt happening now as MPS
in the Scottish Parliament voted against such a few mths back
and which is only the correct decision

A reckon keep the drink as cheap as chips :)

We've heard it from the authorities here. Crime and homicides are down. We're all safe. This worry about crooks and criminals is just an irrational fear.

The only "evil humans" are the gun owners. Except for TAH. :thu:

I don't understand why people say that crime is just now getting bad. Crime has always been bad.

I've had access to guns my whole life.My dad carried one every where he went. I carried several over the years, my current is a Taurus .40S&W auto. I personally prefer the .44 S&W special, but I like the conceal-ability of the Taurus combined with a magazine as compared to a large Smith wheelgun.

My wife and I both have CCW permits and she has a .38 special from S&W that she likes. It eases my mind that she can take care of herself when I'm not around to do it for her.

Evidently some statement to that effect was made by someone, earlier in this thread (NOT ME BTW).

Several here have taken that as license to bray that crime is not that bad any more.

Just telling it like it is, FF...you go out of your way to get attention through confrontation (posts 22, 35, 37, 40, 41, 45, 50, 51, 65, 66 and 68, in just this single thread), yet then snivel when you get EXACTLY what you begged for...our attention.

Seems a bit ungrateful, really.

Look who's going out of their way to get attention here now. I won't bother counting posts. Your post count speaks for itself.

You've made it a pet project of yours to discredit anything I say. I'm not the only target of your arrogance either. There are plenty of members in the PP, which you speak of often, who are fed up with your {censored}.

Any statement I make against TAH is "confrontation" or "sniveling", or "begging for attention", or something else. That's been your same bull{censored} stance for months now.

I referred more specifically to your attacks against RKO,l bsman and dmw999, all of whom were able to present their opinions in a mature, reasoned fashion...

Your tantrums at me amuse me, mostly, no matter which name you post under, here or in the PP.

And this will be all the attention I can spare you today, FF ;)
