Rusty Old Strings

Chorus
I play these old rusty strings on this worn out guitar
I know it sounds rough but I know I'm no star

V1
Some folks may spend 5 grand or more
Me I got it for 75 at a general store
I know it may not sound the best
But I like to think it's different than the rest

V2
This old guitar may sound pretty rough
But I like to think it holds a lot of love
It can pick out a song with all the same notes
And I know that it's played every song that I've wrote

V3
I know these old rusty strings someday will break
And I know this old guitar shows it's age
But these strings may be rusty and this guitar may be old
But it's always been around when I had no one to hold

My 1st VOM:wave:

I was gonna do an instrumental 'cuz of throat probs but I went ahead and tried this old REM song.

Recorded in my bathroom. Used my Tokai CE-400 (D-28 copy) and my zoom H4n.

So. Central Rain ( I'm Sorry)

Did you never call? I waited for your call
These rivers of suggestion, are driving me away
The trees will bend, the cities wash away
the city on the river there's a girl without a dream

I'm Sorry

Eastern to mountain 3rd party call the lines are down
the wise man builds his words upon the rocks
but I'm not bound to follow suit
The trees will bend, the conversations dimmed
go build yourself another home
This choice isn't mine

I'm Sorry

Did you never call? I waited for your call
these rivers of suggestion are driving me away
The trees will bend, the conversations dimmed
go build yourself another dream
this choice isn't mine

hello, hello, can you hear me

i already told you what i thought

are you listening

are you paying attention to anyone

someone else in the world has made themsleves known

the push of a button is all

if i hit send i will be known

can you give me a minute, i'm busy

glowface, you've seen me

glowface, you've hurt me

glowface, you need me

glowface

already we don't talk anymore

we don't look at each other

can't remember the last time i held you

you've always got a glow in your eyes

your head is down, it's a waste

hello, hello, can you hear me

you look up with a confused face

you don't understand what i'm saying

glowface, you've seen me

glowface, you've hurt me

glowface, you need me

glowface

glowface, you've seen me

glowface, you've hurt me

glowface, you need me

glowface

Song:
I Hear a Distant Melody

Credit: Babablowfish

Steve posted this song awhile back and I was very taken by it. I asked him if I could give it a try and he was more than happy to let me. I hope that I did such a fine song some justice. I used my Guild 12 string and recorded with my Zoom H2. Wish I could say this was the first take. I hope this Reverbnation link works.

Bob

Nice interpretation Bob. I am honored that you thought enough of my song to want to play it. I felt the emotion come through. Thanks.

Congratulations with your first vom. I look forward to more of them.

I love the bass playing on this piece - it took my interest as soon as I heard the first bar.

Greetings to all for the first VOM of 2011. My song this month is titled "Mountain Morning" which I wrote back in 2009. Bit of a Celtic flavored number, not much on the fireworks this time. I won't say this was a once and done take because between some more technical difficulties with my recording PC and the every present brain farts, it took a few tries to get things moving right. But you will have this. I do appreciate the comments.

Enjoy

Tony

Wow! I can't recall the last time I've seen the VOM with 3 pages of responses so early into the event... well played, folks. Well played! It looks like I'm going to have lots 'o new music to check out :)

As for my contribution, I present the following VOM1T:

Title: Watch Over You
Originally By: Alter Bridge

Inspired by watching Myles Kennedy (lead singer) perform a solo rendition of this tune live in concert a few weeks ago I had to figure out how to play it for myself. My initial intent for this song was to collaborate with a YouTube friend to provide some much desired vocals to the track. But, alas, best laid plans rarely work out on a schedule ;) Perhaps a future VOM will re-feature this video in it's fully finished state...

Here's hoping someone enjoys it!

(Standard disclaimers apply: The audio is far from perfect, there be mistakes, etc.)
