Members richardmac Posted September 3, 2011 Members Posted September 3, 2011 I think the next big thing in the music biz will be a 13 year old girl who's parents hire a production team to write a song for her and film a video, and they'll put it on youtube, and... oh. Never mind.
Moderators daddymack Posted September 4, 2011 Moderators Posted September 4, 2011 the author echoes many points we've made here over the years, but hit home with something I have been pondering about the future of music, as the process becomes so individualized that there is no longer a common framework in place: "The problem here is obvious: if my No. 1 means something only to me, then it doesn’t really mean anything. The ultimate niche paradise ends up being nothing but an empty room and a mirror." How sad, but how true. The fact that Ryan Seacrest is the host of America's Top 40 should be enough of a harbinger...his predecessor, Rick Dees, was also his predecessor at KIIS-FM's morning show in Los Angeles...Dees, despite some issues, was, at least a longtime radio DJ/Personality...replacing him with the quintessential VJ, to me, was the death knell of commercial top 40 radio, and maybe not a bad thing, all considered.
