My PRS in Grey/black flames. Not a 10top but i guess it was close... maybe a 8 or 9 top. Comments?

Looks like my old employee guitar. (1988)
My Grey/Black was the 3 Grey /Black guitar.
Only difference PRS signed the front and back of the headstock.

I'm STILL looking for the Strat sound...........

I've been playing PRS guitars for 20 years and have never heard a claim that a PRS will sound like a strat.
Sorry.

I will tell you that I have CE24 with an Alder body that comes close in position #7..But lets be real. Only a Strat will sound like a Strat.

Wow, I'm late to this thread - big PRS fan! I have a '92 Custom 24 with a purple quilt top and regular neck carve. Doesn't say 10 top but it is supposed to be. Did they always indicate the 10 top with the "10" on the back of the headstock?

When I bought that guitar, I didn't want to {censored} it up by gigging with it, so I ordered a '93 CE 24, Black Cherry flame top (no 10) and regular neck carve. This one has the alder body and is my #1 even though the Custom 24 looks better. Plays like butter and the alder helps cut through.

The pic is of my McCarty. Beautiful guitar, great sounds, plays great, but I don't like wide-fat neck anywhere near as much as the regular neck carve. If I could go custom shop, it would be this with a regular neck.

So you've been playing PRS's since 85?

That's when they went into production.

I'm intimately familiar with those guitars.

And yes they did claim to emulate a pseudo-Strat sound.

Yes that is correct.

I grew up in Maryland and bought one of the very first production guitars.

All the time I've spent with these guitars I've never heard that.
