Members m.shaw87
Sorry Dude but the Bible is not a load of bullocks, IMO. Even if you're an atheist. It's accumulated and timeless wisdom. I'm a borderline agnostic and I still read the Bible.EDITED: IMO insertion The bible is the world's greatest work of fiction. Members BlueStrat
The bible is the world's greatest work of fiction. Actually, I think the idea that Gibsons are worth what they are asking for them is a far greater fiction.

Still (one of) the most recognizeable name(s) in the guitar biz...and the Lacey Act thing isn't going to mean much to most people who want a Lester... Members Tgrimley
The things is if they are innocent of the accusations leveled at them they should sue the asses off the accusers. However, if they are guilty then they should have the book thrown at them. But justice must be done and be seen to be done.

Members Pitar
I think we should rally together and petition Washington to get rid of police and other agencies like the TSA, Customs, DEA, etc, and utilize the military to perform in these roles. They can certainly do the job and defend the nation as well. When other agencies are created they take on their own autonomies that work divisively against the government that created them. When that occurs, and it has in spades, their agents become untouchable and can do no wrong. With the military filling these duties it will maintain a regular rotation of personnel, as it traditionally does, precluding the possibility of festering into the autocratic (and bribe taking) power brokerages operating in spite of the nation rather than on its behalf. Gibson's plight is the sad evidence of badges at work, not justice. Regarding the OP's question regarding the cost of Gibson guitars: No clue here. I have never played one of their acoustics I would consider as hi-end quality. I mean, if this latest debacle spells the end of the company my only hope is that the name gets revived by people who know how to build quality acoustic guitars. I have no opinion of their electric guitars.

Members Pitar
They do this quite often in third world countries. Guess, they're all doing fine, eh? Yep. I've been around this little green and blue ball a couple times and I don't see any of the bureaucratic obfuscation of multiple agencies all doing the same thing differently, which is what we have here in the US. The same uniforms appear everywhere on the streets at the rank-in-file level across all manner of public sector security. Here we have multiple agencies all running on the taxpayer's nickel and doing basically the same thing. And, they're doing a poor job of inter-agency communication such that many will be chasing down the same bad guys based on tiny puzzle pieces that just might complete the entire puzzle if they communicated with each other. Or, one single agency called the US Military could supplant them all. I don't know. Maybe that makes too much sense. I don't think Gibson would be in the straits it's in now, either. They would have been duly notified and asked to come into compliance by a certain deadline, to provide data supporting that compliance and I doubt any of us would have ever gotten wind of any of it going down. Moderators daddymack Posted December 2, 2011 Author Moderators Share Posted December 2, 2011 I find it a tad unnerving seeing uniformed military armed with automatic weapons standin on street corners...YMMV...I saw it here in LA in '94, which was very strange (National Guard, who, as 'citizen soldiers' I would be more inclined ot trust) but I also have seen it in places like Mexico City (and other place in Mexico) and Manila. Separation of civilian and military authority is one of the things that makes us feel like we won't have a coup in this country.
