But other industries including one of the world's hottest and most profitable companies, Apple, has a huge piracy problem too. Its not just a few knock-off computers., but rather an entire fake Apple store. In fact, there appear to be several of them. "They looked like Apple products. It looked like an Apple store," wrote blogger BirdAboard in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming, in Yunnan province. "It had the classic Apple store winding staircase and weird upstairs sitting area. The employees were even wearing those blue t-shirts with the chunky Apple name tags around their necks...this is a near-perfect ripoff". Even the employees think they work for Apple. There were some clues that it wasn't really an official Apple store including chipping paint and the official Apple store listings that includes only 4 stores in China - two in Beijing and two in Shanghai.
Moderators daddymack Posted July 21, 2011 Moderators Posted July 21, 2011 not surprising...there realy is no general concept of property rights, intellectual property, trademark, etc in China...they are still a Communist country...and those are all capitalist constructs. They really see nothing wrong with knocking off anything they think they can sell, from 'Folexes' to designer jeans and name brand running shoes. They could actually call their store 'The Apple Store' if they wanted to, and there would be little Apple could do to stop it.
