Members jollibug
What's an elegant way to keep the sustain pedal in one spot? Everytime I go to sit down (Yamaha P-120) someone's kicked it into some un-reachable corner.
Moderators Lee Knight Posted September 6, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 6, 2005 They make material that's intended to be put on the underside of area rugs to keep them from sliding around. It's slightly gummy to introduce a little friction... Home Depot, Lowes
Members Dave Martin
It lacks elegance, but I use Gaffers tape to hold the pedals down (on a Rhodes stage, Wurly Model 200 and a Peavey C8 controller).
Phil O'Keefe
I've used double sided tape on the bottom of the pedal... it's not as firm of a grip as the gaffer's tape, but it should hold it in place and help keep it from slipping - as long as you don't hit / kick that pedal too hard. Members audioguru
Used to have that trouble alot... a simple, no-stick solution was to simply rotate the pedal 90 degrees, such that the 'back' is on the right side, and the pedal is on the left, perpendicular to how it would normally sit. It works better if sort of pinned against your stand, but amazingly, just the weight shift seems to hold it in place better, and your foot doesn't know the difference. Haven't had that problem since. Members Kiwiburger
Wood floor, hmm ... do you own it? A couple of big nails should work. Or a squirt of silicon rubber glue.
Members umkcprof
Double-stick carpet tape is my recommendation. That stuff is thin (so it won't raise the height significantly), but it is incredibly strong. And it's cheap as dirt. Home Depot or Lowe's will have it. And the best part? If you put in on properly, no one will know that its stuck to the floor until they TRY to move it. But, trust me, it won't move. :-) Steve
