Members Pasz
Hi guys, I tried my AKG C1000 with and without the little adapters you can put on the capsule and I was pretty amazed when I heard these mics sound a lot clearer without the capsules. I wonder if using the mic without the adapter can harm it. Guess not, but I'm asking you anyways, just to be sure.
Members spokenward
the large cap changes it from cardioid to hypercardioid. The small cap supposedly boosts frequencies from 5kHz to 9k. AKG has a pdf manual in several languages here: http://www.akg.com/mediadatabase/psfile/datei/75/c1000s_LED4055c4360b704.pdf
Members Kiwiburger
Yeah - take them off and leave them off. I bought a pair of C1000S years ago when they were popular. I mistakenly thought that being hyper-cardiod they would have good rejection of unwanted sound on stage. Wrong. A Shure SM57 cardioid has much better rejection, and sounds better too on a lot of stuff. They can sound ok on dull acoustic guitars. Not my favorite mic's.
